5.0 out of 5 stars Kala does it again; another brilliant book that speaks to the Core., September 15, 2006

This review is from: How to Find Your Inner Priestess (Paperback)
The talent of author and occultist Kala Trobe seems limitless. I couldn't imagine a better person to write a book on True Priestesshood. Unsurprisingly, How to Find Your Inner Priestess is accurate and realistic. It speaks of the spiritual demands of anybody living any type of Priest or Priestess position, yet provides empowering advice for any woman seeking expanded spiritual dedication. Most Priests and Priestesses have patron deities; my favorite section is that in which she examines various types of Priestesses, i.e. Priestesses of Ma'at, of Hecate, of Isis, of Kali, of Persephone, of Laxmi, of Artemis, and so on. Very cool.

Another favorite section of mine occurs earlier in the book, where the author discusses influences of various Priestesses of the Golden Dawn. That's something a person wouldn't expect to see in a book on generic Wicca. Fortunately, Trobe delves into a number of spiritual paths (Witchcraft, Hinduism, Ceremonial Magick, Hermeticism and others), presenting that Priests and Priestesses are not religion-specific. I would imagine this book was tricky to write in that it was unfocused on any particular tradition over another. How to Find Your Inner Priestess emphasizes commonalities over differences; for Priests and Priestesses of all magickal-spiritual paths share the overwhelming goal of progression, wisdom and self-awareness; that which should be cultivated both in oneself and brought out in others.

This is a relatively small book--at least compared to Trobe's massive (and incredibly concise) "The Witch's Guide to Life." This both makes it an easy read and allows a person to purchase a second book at the same time! It keeps in mind that people (particularly women) of all paths may be drawn to the text. Trobe also provides personal anecdotes, helpful tips and crosscultural examinations throughout the book. Indeed this is a necessity for any Priestess or potential Priestess, hands down.

With the enormous number of people running around proclaiming themselves to be High Priests and Priestesses without accurate training or continued dedication, and whilst shopping at Wal-Mart and eating at McDonalds, of course, it's absolutely refreshing to have a down-to-earth guide on the often-misportrayed topic. This book can serve to expand the wisdom of any seeker and give them empowerment as well as assurance that the path they walk is sacred.

2.0 out of 5 stars How to Find Your Inner Dumbness, October 30, 2007
This review is from: How to Find Your Inner Priestess (Paperback)
I rarely misbuy ANYthing- especially books but here I've fallen offpath. I realized within minutes that this book was/is very Wicca 101 and makes all the same mistakes ALL Wiccan books make (Earth is North, Fire is the preeminent element, etc.) but this gets even worse going into "Teen Vogue"esque makeup and fashion tips! Poorly researched and SO ALL about the cover- brainiacs steer clear! (I give two stars solely for the "What Kind of Priestess Are You?" section.
