Product Description

When the American flag is folded at a memorial service, each fold is said to represent a virtue: liberty, unity, justice, perseverance, hardiness, valor, purity, innocence, sacrifice, honor, independence and truth. These are the things soldiers are said to fight for. Then they come home.

Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America (IAVA) is the nation's first and largest nonprofit, non-partisan education and advocacy organization for America's newest generation of veterans. Our is to improve the lives of Iraq and Afghanistan veterans and their families. Films such as How to Fold a Flag expose Americans to the struggles our veterans face as they transition home and struggle to adjust to life after war. A crucial part of our mission is to make sure civilian audiences know there is something they can do to help and assure vets who watch our partner projects know that We've Got Their Back.
We hear from countless new supporters that they were moved to support IAVA after watching a film or show about what it is like to come home from war. Usually, audiences are left hanging without guidance on what they can do. By involving IAVA into a film's distribution we re providing a platform for individuals to make a difference.
In addition, we're providing veterans with the support they need. IAVA membership is free for veterans of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. IAVA built Community of Veterans, a private, online, social network exclusively for veterans of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. It's a cross between a 21st century veteran's hall and Facebook. In COV vets talk about everything from traumatic brain injury (TBI) to motorcycles and the PTSD support group is one of the most active parts of the site. COV has helped thousands of veterans dealing with PTSD and we've seen vets come together to help prevent suicides.
Films are a crucial medium for telling this generation of veterans' stories and raise awareness in a country where less than 1% of the population has served in these conflicts. Let's make sure people know what America's next generation of heroes is facing... and how to help.

"'Flag' achieves the difficult task of making us care for its characters without simplifying them one iota." --Chris Vognar, The Dallas Morning News

"This is a movie that will make you want to hug a vet. A lot of them need it." --Roger Moore, Orlando Sentinel

It told a great story, but it really could have told more. I will say as a vet who served in Iraq, it was moving.
