Although classified ads are often played down as job-finding tools, the author highlights how they serve a useful purpose in an overall job search. Elderkin explains how ads can be used to ferret out job leads, learn more about hiring practices of companies, and provide networking opportunities. He has good insights on determining the best ads to respond to and writing letters that will result in interviews. This is a second edition of a work published under a slightly different title, How To Get Inter views from Job Ads (Elderkin Assocs., 1989). It has much of the same information as the earlier work and repeats the use of illustrations to create catchy reminders of good job search strategies. Recommended, although libraries with the first edition may not wish to reorder.
