As a local marketing agency that focuses on paid lead generation I am always pushing that my small business clients FIRST work on building a 5-star reputation BEFORE buying more advertising (otherwise people find out faster that your business has a bad rep.). Fireman Mike is true giver wisdom when it comes to online marketing. I have been following Mike since 2010 and I have to say that everything I have seen Mike put out is stellar, and this book is no different!

Online reputation management is a critical part to every business these days. Reviews for your business provide the social proof that customers look for when deciding wether or not they will buy what you are selling. They do this research many times before you even have a chance to know they are looking at you, your company and the products/services that you sell. Don't Leave This Up To Chance!

Mike proves why reviews are SO important when he shared some staggering statistics from BriteLocal in Chapter 3. These statistics showed that "...most people look for 6 to 10 positive reviews on the Internet before making a buying decision. 67 percent of people looking for a business read those reviews…if you don't have 6 to 10 five-star reviews, your business is viewed as not trusted online"

My favorite parts of the book were chapters 7 & 8 where Mike revealed "Why Some of Your Reviews Are Hiding" and "What To Do With the Negative Ones". These are questions people ask me all the time and I even learned a few tricks I didn't know by reading this book.

Mike introduces a very important topic for all on-line business's and his emphasis on building a positive on-line reputation could well be a wake-up call for many readers.He does however labour the point to the extreme,repeating the mantra of reputation marketing hundreds of times.Perhaps better editing would have reduced this tendency.For an author who is so insistent on reputation marketing I find it very suprising to see the use of bad language when refering to services/clients etc..surely not appropriate?It is clear that Mike knows his stuff so it would have been good if he had given us some real life examples of how/not to respond to bad reviews and personal stories/testimonials from his clients..
