4.0 out of 5 stars Marvelous
This book has the inside track on this carrier opportunity. I am in the field as a transporter and i have heard horror stories that could have been avoided if those people would have had this gem of a book.

Several years ago, Mr. Chilton hit upon a terrific idea with his delivery business and idea to spread the word. However, this book is so widely sold that the market for new drivers is very limited, if not all together impossible to find if you only hold a basic "operator's license" for your driving needs. Mr. Chilton makes it look like the need for a CDL "A" or "B" license is not really needed to drive these RVs, and for the most part this is very true in most cases. Many states allow YOU to DRIVE a vehicle up to 26,000 lbs GVW without an additional license endorsement. In making calls to the many manufacturers at my own costs, I find that they are looking for either a CDL License plus additional endorsements and several years of over the road experience for them to even consider using a new driver for their deliveries. For us, this book has been a waste of time and money for what we have received from it. So, "caveat emptor"...let the buyer beware, requires buyers to inspect fully and carefully.

1.0 out of 5 stars Good Idea, Stale Info, July 20, 2004

The author's idea (Make a living by delivering RVs and specialty vehicles) is great, but free (he describes it on his website). The value of the book would be the contact info for 4000 manufacturers, dealers and transport services.

But this info was stale when the last printing was made, in 2002. At that time, most of the phone numbers in my geography (WA) had already changed area codes 3 years before. Therefore, the book has phone numbers that were already out of date.

Advice to potential buyers: Read his website, use yellow pages to find potential customers, skip the book. (And don't hold your breath, I've made 45 contacts with one possible employment opportunity).

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't hold your breath !, August 14, 2006
This review is from: How to Get Paid $50,000 a Year to Travel: Without Selling Anything (Paperback)
I first heard of this publication when Craig Chilton was doing a promotion of his latest book edition - and was on a Portland OR TV show.

I ordered the 2006 update of this book around May of 2006. I believe the stated publication date was in June. After not hearing anything for some time, I contacted Craig Chilton directly. I subsequently ordered the book directly from him - finding out that there were to be TWO volumes on this publication, and that the Amazon price was only for the first volume. The first was to be the "manual" and the second the "directory". The manual was to come first, with the directory published "later" this year. It is now Aug 14 and I have received NOTHING to date. It is my assumption that the directory - which is what I was really after - has also slipped significantly in delivery.

Such extreme delays, with a stated explanation that it is the "publisher's" fault destroy credibility in my mind. I would advise anyone interested in these books to check carefully before ordering - and not to get hopes up!

1.0 out of 5 stars GOING ON 3-YEARS AND STILL GETTING THE RUNAROUND!!!, December 9, 2008

THINK TWICE! before you buy this "stuff" This junk should NOT get any stars, but Amazons reviews wont work unless you give at least 1-star. As stated by another reviewer, I also ordered this "How to get paid $50,000 a yr to travel" from watching Mr Chilton on a morning show called "AM Northwest" out of Portland Oregon, I paid for the "complete" 3-pc package (CD,and the 2-Volume book set. I paid $49.90 on April 20th 2006 and STILL HAVE NOT RECEIVED Volume-2(Job market for North America)!!! It took many phone calls and OVER a year just to get volume-1. Its been 2yrs+8mos now, with STILL an incomplete order! I asked Mr Chilton for a full refund when I got "just" the cd without the rest of the pkg., and he told me I'd only get a refund credit of $15.45 for the 2-volume book set, and that I couldn't have a refund on the audio cd of $34.45! Check with the Better Business Bureau, it says he has an unsatisfactory record! Shame on you Amazon for doing business with this dishonest man! My advise is DONT BUY!

By A Customer
This review is from: How to Get Paid $50,000 a Year to Travel: Without Selling Anything (Paperback)
I never thought I could read a book and learn how to actually live a dream. But I did. This is the best 30 bucks a person who loves to travel could possibly spend. This book is full of ideas and listings that are critical to seeing America on my terms. If you want to know how to live your travel dream...you should read this book. Hats off to Mr. Chilton for sharing his expertise and experience. Now I can see America!
