Like most authors I was hoping to glean something new, some information that I didn't already know, especially considering the price for a small paperback. Unfortunately, this book, like so many of its genre in the "How-to" category, contained what most authors already know, if they have been in the business for more than a few years.

"How to Get Your Book Reviewed: Sell more Books with Reviews, Testimonials, and Endorsements" would be most useful for writers new to the publishing field. It would help if writers were to purchase a book like this long before they considered publishing at all. In today's publishing world, where there are no gatekeepers at all and absolutely everything and anything can be published and is published, a book like this would help as a writer seeks pre-publication feedback.

This is a book designed for writers of non-fiction, who usually already have a ready-made market for reviews, if they consider their topic and know how to use a search engine. This particular book contains very little to benefit today's novelists.

How to Get Your Book Reviewed is an information-packed book for both the debut author and the seasoned mid-lister. Some authors are more pro-active about their careers, which compels them to research relevant marketing techniques. Marketing one's book is a part-time job in itself, and it is no longer the sole responsibility of the publisher. Successful authors must devote plentiful time towards promoting their own books.

In the virtual marketplace, the internet, more books are being published then ever before. Authors seeking to make a splash with their books are up against the Big Name Authors and the super self-promoters. For those authors who tend towards introversion, marketing oneself can be a tough gig. One solution, purported by Dana Lynn Smith, is to get your book reviewed for coveted publicity.

Book reviews speak louder than an author spam-shouting on Twitter, "Buy my book!" Quality book reviewers abound, but how can the amateur author locate these people? How can the new authors coax the inundated reviewers to pick up their specific book?

Dana begins the book by showing the benefits of book reviews to one's writing career. She explains the book review process and teaches how to submit review copies. One learns what can go wrong with book reviews through the Potential Pitfalls section. She explains the difference between blurbs, endorsements, testimonials, and customer reviews. Discover how the author can use each to its full advantage. A few chapters provide dozens of links to review sites, book blogs, virtual reader communities, book review journals, print media, and other book review sources. There's even a chapter about how to write solid book reviews.

This is a fantastic ebook that gives all the information an author will need to know to find a source for getting reviews. This ebook is amazing and I think this is the best resource to get the marketing information that you need to promote your book.

This ebook covers everything from learning how to deal with negative reviews, learning the common mistakes people make in seeking book reviews, are paid reviews worth it, and many other things.

I liked this ebook very much and highly recommend it for authors that want to promote their book/books and know that they are doing it right.

This is definitely a WOW ebook, by this I mean I found myself in nearly all of the chapters saying, "WOW THIS IS GREAT".

As an author/publisher, I subscribe to Dana's free newsletter, The Savvy Book Marketer so I knew that I would also like her books.... I was not disappointed...As its title promises, this book tells everything you need to know about "How to Get Your Book Reviewed. " But, when I finished reading it, I still had one question : Which review is more valuable, Kirkus or Clarion? I emailed Dana & within minutes she sent me her educated opinion! I was so impressed by her dedication to her readers that I was inspired to write this 5 star review...and, I am now going to buy more of her books on other needed subjects.

(Originally reviewed for WOW! Women On Writing!) I know I'm a lucky person--I'm a writer, a mommy, a wife, a dog owner!--but when the opportunity came to review Dana Lynn Smith's book, How To Get Your Book Reviewed, I thought about buying a lottery ticket, too. This is such a timely book for me--since my historical fiction, middle-grade book, Finding My Place, just came out. So, what did I think of Dana's book, why should you care about getting your book reviewed, and how will this Savvy Book Marketer's guide help you to get your book reviewed? Read on to find out!

Dana begins her guide by explaining why you should care about getting book reviews (which, nowadays, are also recommendations or endorsements from readers on social networking sites and online book stores). This quote sums it up perfectly: "There's no guarantee that reviews will translate into sales, but they certainly increase the odds. With the huge amount of competition facing your book, reviews are one of the very best ways to get your book noticed and to influence purchasing decisions of potential customers."

Okay, so now that you are convinced you need reviews, Dana shows you how to get them. This is a very thorough book with live links in the e-book version. She has three sections basically--by the way, she's thought of everything!--the book review process: how it works and how to submit, different places where you can get your book reviewed (you will read about places you never thought of), and what to do with the reviews once you have them to create sales. She also goes into the pitfalls of book reviews, so you will be aware of what can happen if things don't go exactly as you hoped.

One of the coolest parts of this book are the "case studies.
