Jon Okinaga is someone I know and have known for years now. As a matter of fact since before his own soul was sanitized (to use his words and title). I remember first meeting him at a wedding where he was drunk, out of shape and on the road to nowhere. Jon, if you're reading this, sorry about the directness but that's kinda how I saw you.
I remember when he first began making and taking the steps to let go of the control in his life and turn it over to God. The bible talks a lot about transformation and change as we surrender our lives to Jesus. I've seen it in my life and tons of people in the past 25 years. Jon Okinaga is one of the most extreme and complete examples of a life transformed by Jesus that I have ever seen.
This book is a collection of chapters that is essentially his heart and soul on the page. His emotions change and his topics vary and in reading this you get a picture of someone who has been THERE, doesn't pull punches, and is REAL. Truth is not always pretty but it's always worth it. Anything Jon writes or talks about regarding addiction and change is a must read.
If you are having problems with addiction in your life and you live near Jon, contact him immediately and let him help you. If you don't live close by, get this book, read his blog, email him and get as much input as you can from him. If you know someone struggling with these things get this book for them.
The biggest compliment I can give Jon is that he lives what preaches. Instead of being filled with drugs, he is now filled with Jesus. He work out like a machine, is ripped and destroys workouts when he comes to my gym. He is different from when I first met him in every way but the biggest thing is that there is more of Jesus and less of Jon in his life.
