5.0 out of 5 stars Best Passion CD Yet
Frankly, after the beauty of Our Love Is Loud, I was very disappointed by Sacred Revolution. It looked like Passion had taken a step back to more emotional, whip-the-crowd-into-a-frenzy songs, and tried to get too many vocalists onto one CD. Hymns was quite a bit better, but How Great Is Our God surpasses all the rest. Every song on this CD is great and can lift your...

1.0 out of 5 stars Unhelpful, unsingable
My church has been using this CD, and many people have been raving about it, but I feel that the reviews are unjustified. To me the CD promotes an experiential feeling of worship, where it is the music and the experience of the CD that is creating a 'feeling' of God's presence - many of the previous reviews appear to be alluding to such a thing. Because the songs are...

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Passion CD Yet, April 27, 2005

Frankly, after the beauty of Our Love Is Loud, I was very disappointed by Sacred Revolution. It looked like Passion had taken a step back to more emotional, whip-the-crowd-into-a-frenzy songs, and tried to get too many vocalists onto one CD. Hymns was quite a bit better, but How Great Is Our God surpasses all the rest. Every song on this CD is great and can lift your heart to God in worship. There is the right balance of vocalists. This is the best Passion CD yet.

Charlie Hall is passionate as ever, growling out the words that bring us closer to God. David Crowder*Band brings it, and Chris Tomlin leads us to the heart of God with his songs. Matt Redman adds a great touch with his songs.

My favourite songs: Majesty and Nothing But the Blood (sung by Charlie Hall).

5.0 out of 5 stars Singable? Worship+Able, June 17, 2006

This is a good CD and I've often seen people comment on how "canned" and "unsingable" a a CD set might be but it shouldn't apply to this great compilation.

This is a very good CD with excellent worship songs. They can be sung and enjoyed alone in the car or in the corporate worship setting. Many of them are in use in churches around the country for times of corporate worship.

There isn't a bad song on this CD and I love the few that I find like that. Usually you buy a CD for one or two songs and ignore the others. Not so with how great is our god. Enjoy every song and sing away!

5.0 out of 5 stars To be relevant..., April 12, 2005
This review is from: How Great Is Our God (Audio CD)
Passion is all about being relevant to a new generation of worshippers that are moved more by the spirit of God in a house burning with a fever for Him than by stained glass and vaulted archways. This album, like all of Passion's live albums, is filled with the spirit of this incredible corporate worship gathering and is just a small taste of what God allowed thousands of us to experience in January. Some songs are new, and some are very old, but no studio recording could do what these recordings do... allow us to experience intimacy with the Almighty while partaking of God's work in a mass of young generation disciples. It's a strange dichotomy, but the only description I can come up with. These worship leaders are truly blessed, and these recordings are truly a blessing for all of us.

Whether you are a believer or not, you'll be moved by these spirit-led songs:

1. No One Like You (5 out of 5): No song turns up the heat in a worship gathering like this one, and David Crowder is a master at cranking up the energy. The audience participation in this one greatly enhances the live experience.

2. All Over the World (3 out of 5): Matt Redman has never really done it for me, but this is a good, uptempo song about the entire world worshipping God. Great theme for the conference geared towards missions and our duty "All Over the World".

3. Indescribable (5 out of 5): Perhaps the best song of the year, not written by Chris Tomlin, but masterfully performed by him. Few songs can begin to approach the incomprehensible nature of God... this one does.

4. How Great is Our God (5 out of 5): Chris Tomlin leads this song that we could still be singing without tiring several months later... such a powerful chorus that magnifies the greatness of our sovereign Lord.

5. Here is Our King (5 out of 5): David Crowder wrote this after the Tsunami in December and performed it at Passion for the first time. You'd never know it because the song resonates quickly through the hall and gathers a great corporate worship following.

6. Majesty (5 out of 5): Charlie Hall performs this somewhat reflective yet up-tempo song about what the grandness of God can do in our small lives if we would only let Him in and accept his forgiving grace.

7. The Glory of Your Name (4 out of 5): The only song on the album sung by a female, Christy Nockels has such a pure voice, it's perfect for the glorification of God's great sacrifice for His people.

8. Whole World in His Hands (3 out of 5): Matt Redman. God is a Rock, and we owe him everything. He will not forsake us, and to Him be the glory. Kind of dissonant song when describing the troubling nature of trying to live life for ourselves, alternates into a powerful life-affirming chorus that reminds us that He is in charge.

9. Mission's Flame (4 out of 5): Matt Redman writes this song that starts very different and a little unsettling speaking of the motivation for discipleship. He should be the praise of every tongue, so let us worship and be filled with a desire to spread His gospel to all the world.

10. Marevelous Light (5 out of 5): Charlie Hall writes and sings a great upbeat song about the cleansing power of the gospel.

11. Nothing But the Blood (4 out of 5): Charlie Hall sings his own version of this classic folk hymn and brings it into modern worship. A great corporate worship song.

12. Your Grace is Enough (4 out of 5): Chris Tomlin leads the spirit into the hall to worship the greatness of one true God, and ushers us out into the world with the most important gift God can give us: his grace, which is enough for all of us.

13. It Is Well (5 out of 5): I never heard of Shane and Shane before this conference, and they've instantly become my favorite. This 8+ minute recording is unedited and the best example on the disc of what it was like to be at Passion 05. Classic hymns are timeless and speak to every generation. The pure vocals that the "Shanes" offer on this song, coupled with the voices of several thousand worshippers pouring out their hearts in this unplugged worship environment makes this my favorite cut of the album.

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely Awesome, October 21, 2005

This is an absolutely awesome worship album. There is a lot of energy in David Crowder's opening song No One Like You. It will really get you jumping. I challenge you to get your band to play this at your Church. Indescribable puts things in perspective about God's greatness, yet his love for us. Whole World in His Hands and Marvelous Light will take you into an attitude of prayer. Chris Tomlin's How Great is Our God should probably be the worship song of the year. Overall, this is an awesome album.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wow!, April 16, 2005
This review is from: How Great Is Our God (Audio CD)
I've heard all the previous Passion Worship Band's CD's, and this CD is by far the most powerful, spiritual CD I've ever heard. (Previous favorite: The Road To One Day) I've never got a chance to go to any of the conferences, but this CD has truly blessed me with my relationship with God, and these songs really pierced my heart. My personal favorites are: No One Like You, How Great Is Our God, Here Is Our King, Nothing But The Blood, and Your Grace Is Enough. I recommend this CD to anyone who loves hearing 11,000+ scream their lungs out to God and his mighty love illuminating around the whole arena. Truly Amazing!

God came down at Passion 2005. This CD will bring back memories for those that went and add a worship-filled spirit to everyone's day! I highly recommend it, especially when you're having a rough day. Praise will do the trick.

5.0 out of 5 stars I was at Passion 2005, July 15, 2009

Speaking as someone who was actually at Passion 2005, where the recordings for this CD came from, I can say it's amazing. The songs themselves are awesome, but listening to them knowing I was there experiencing them as they were being recorded is even better. If you just listen to the songs at home or in the car you may get excited about the energy of some of them, but being there and seeing 18,000 other college students dancing around and getting excited about God is something entirely different. My favorite song from this album is It is Well by Shane & Shane. When it was recorded, they had Shane & Shane in the middle of the arena with just 2 chairs and their guitars, and about 18,000 college students around them singing in worship.

Passion 05 took place in downtown Nashville at the Gaylord Entertainment Center. Everyday when we would leave the arena to go back to our hotels, people in the honkey tonks would tell us they could hear us singing from down the street! Most were pretty amused that our singing drowned out the country singers in all the clubs 2 city blocks down the street. If the making of this CD could overpower 2 blocks of country music clubs, you know it has to be amazing!

This is a great CD, but it is even better in person. If you've never been to a Passion conference you are missing out. Sign up for Passion 06 and buy this CD. David Crowder Band is definately the best band of all time. These guys truly love the Lord and all of their songs reflect his glory. Passion truly is a blessing from God.

4.0 out of 5 stars Conference Memories, June 9, 2006
By

I think what many people do not understand about this CD, as well as Sacred Revolution, is that they are live recordings from conferences such as OneDay and Passion. The songs on these CDs are mere snippets from the over-all experience of each conference. To me, they serve as reminders of the conferences & bring back memories of what I learned & experienced there (which, at a Passion conference is always profound & challenging). Unlike at a concert, where the focus is on the music & audience enjoyment, the songs at a Passion conference specifically coincide with what is happening, either the message that was just given, or perhaps the focus of the moment (missions, prayer, adoration, a specific verse etc). The CDs contain the "most memorable" songs & moments for those who participated, which probably doesn't necessarily resonate with those who weren't there. The artists on the CD all have their own albums, which are probably more representative of their musical abilities & are produced for a wider audience. If you haven't attended a Passion conference, you may not "get" this CD. So instead of complaining about this album, I'd recommend all the artists' individual projects: David Crowder Band, Chris Tomlin, Charlie Hall, Shane & Shane, Christy Nockels.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Modern Gospel music, November 25, 2011
This review is from: How Great Is Our God (Audio CD)
I purchased this song download after hearing it on a local music station where it was being played in the popular music format. It was only after it finished that I realized it was a gospel song, it's that good. Steven Curtis Chapman helped with the lyrics and production, possibly part of the reason for the great sound. Buy it and I don't think you'll be disappointed.
