The title of this book is misleading. It should be "Types of Potatoes" because the authors spends 37 pages describing potato varieties and how to cook them. With a book that's 57 pages(minus the cover page, title page, the table of contents, index, 6 pages total) that's twenty pages left. Of those 20 pages there are only 5 pages about cultivating potatoes with very poor photo choices. So, 5 of 57 pages are actually about growing potatoes? That's only 8.7% of the book true to the title. I think you are paying for the glossy paper in the book. I want my money back. I found better free information online about growing potatoes than in this book. I think I will post my own youtube video about cultivating potatoes.
Okay, so it talks about soil prep, composting, garden tools blah, blah, blah. Good start guys. Rename your book please. I was expecting a book that showed actual step-by-step photos of different ways of planting potatoes. It just lamely showed the standard trench method. What about using straw? Raised beds? Chicken wire? Above ground and hilling? Containers? Where's the pictures illustrations of how a potato plant grows? I don't usually write reviews but I had to for this book. My advice is to just search online or go to your local library for information. Or better yet, find a Master Gardener in your area that is willing to give you advice. I kick myself for getting this book even though it was not expensive. I feel taken.

This book is less than even the basics of growing potatoes & lacks even the standard method of planting. Although their was a good amount of types of potatoes photographed with very little description. Most of witch you can,t even buy in the U.S. except for three I recognized of the eight kinds I know we grow in the upper U.S. I would definitely recommend anyone trying to learn the fundamentals of growing potatoes and gardening read (THE VEGETABLE GARDENER'S BIBLE).
