Useful synastry astrology reference book,
By Tim Burness (Brighton, England) - See all my reviews
This review is from: How to Handle Your Human Relations (Paperback)
This book is worth buying for chapter 8, "Comparison Of Aspects" alone. All the possible planetary combinations are worked through one by one, giving clear guidelines as to the corresponding kind of interactions between the two individuals concerned. I have often found it very handy to pull out an occasional quote from this chapter when presenting a chart comparison. I have not seen such concise, top quality, synastry information anywhere else. Otherwise, great astrology but not so sure about all the relationship advice! Written in 1958, some of the attitudes towards relationships and partnerships inevitably seem a bit out of date and rather limited e.g. many comments about the leadership of the man and the domesticity of the woman in marriage. There is still much good common sense here, even though much of it seems rather obvious at the beginning of the 21st century. Another criticism is the notable absence of ascendants and midheavens in the comparison of aspects, especially as the author states quite early on, "most important in judging attraction is the aspect between the ascendant of one chart and the planets of the other".

one of the better books,

According to a lot of astrologers this book is one of the better ones. Indeed it is. In this small book Lois Sargent takes a look at how to look for compatibility (attraction, endurability etc..) in horoscopes. In the second part of the book you can find a comparison of aspects. It's a pity that nothing is said about the aspects to the ascendant or midheaven (the most important points in a horoscope!). I do not always agree with the descriptions and this made me think that comparing different horoscopes to compatibility is one of the most difficult and empirical unresearched fields in astrology.

Best book I have ever bought for Astrology,
By Cadet Mom (Duluth, Georgia) - See all my reviews
This review is from: How to Handle Your Human Relations (Paperback)
I bought this book in the 1970's in Sacramento, California. This is by far the best book I have ever bought for Astrology. It emphasizes self-understanding & speaks in real English for any type of Astrologer. It shows you how one person ineracts with another person. Age has nothing to do with relationships. Astrology chart comparisons do. Parent-Child, Family Relationship, Friendships, Bussiness, & Love and Marriage.

Although, this book was written in 1958, it explains at the simple way how understand our relationship through the astrology. I think every student of astrology as to read this book. It is a classic and basic book of synastry. Therefore, I recommend it.

This is a very good reference book for synasrty. There is a complete section in the book that describes all the possible chart to chart planetary aspects and their meanings, that are very useful when analizing the interaction between two pople in relationship. The only thing that is missing here are the aspects from the planets to the angles ( ascendant, midheaven etc)., that is a bit of a shame, as it would really make this little booklet the most thorough synastry reference book yet. As it is , it is still extremely useful and when i was beginning astrology I used it constantly. I think i have now dowloaded it directly into my brain, as i do not seem to use it as much, but i am still referring to it in my mind. One could say i used it so much, i know it by heart. A very useful little booklet indeed.

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: How to Handle Your Human Relations (Paperback)
I bought this after reading Linda Goodman's Relationship signs. Sometimes the interpretation of the same aspect is quite different in the two books, e.g. Pluto trine Venus. This one has some stuff missing from Relationship Signs, like attraction and ascendent matching...
Comparing with Linda, the writing style is not that interesting and personal... And many readers, including me, may not agree with his views on marriage and love, but it's restricted to few pages, and is not very forceful either... And after reading this, I read "Light on Relationships", the approach there is totally different, based on vedic astrology. And it seems much more impressive. |
