Dr. Holstein's book is exceptional in the breadth of its approach to human sexuality. The seven dimensions she identifies for sexual experience are in fact the seven levels on which all human experience takes place, from the basic biology of our organic existence to our relationship to God. Her ability to show how our sexual energy partakes of all these domains of experience, and not just the ones we have been conditioned to think of as sexual by the imagery of today's media and institutions, is original and profound, as well as being useful in a very practical way. Bravo!

Bravo, Lana Holstein, for writing a book about sex that answers practical questions while sparking new wonder. It's amazing how much most of us don't know about sex. Here's a book that scientific, highly readable and obviously written with love. What a gift!

This book is incredible. Dr. Holstein explains what is involved in attaining and maintaining a wonderful, loving relationship with your partner. This is much more than a "how to" guide; it's a real common sense direction to finding true intamacy and balance with your mate.

If you are still in love with your partner, then this - among other better resources - may help improve your sex life.

Where this book departs from sanity is that it suggests that any relationship can be made to work with just a little sexual healing. Selfish men and women the world over have tried the - if our relationship isn't working its because you don't try - schtick and it just doesn't wash.

For couples already in a good relationship, this is fine, but it isn't a fix for cold marriages or couples estranged due to infidelity, despite the fairy tales the author wants to tell.

For the unexamined life, this is just perfect. According to Holstein, finding true intimacy with your partner also requires hypnotising yourself into not seeing them as a whole person, but overlooking and forgiving everything, from infidelity to gluttony, to sexual selfishness.

In this fantasy world, you can psyche yourself up to love anyone. That demeans human excellence by suggesting that all ways of being in the world are equally lovable, so what is the point of free will and choice?

We love whom we love, and if we have to talk ourselves into it, we should ask some more insightful questions about our relationships.
