bees do it!,
This review is from: How to Have Sex If You're Not Human (Kindle Edition)
I like learning new things not just about human beings but where we fit in within the scheme of it all. "How to have sex if you're not human" allows you to peep into the world of our other neighbors on our planet. If you are a curious person this is a great book for you.

My background in science is quite limited, but I have found a fund of accessable information in Mary Batten's HOW TO HAVE SEX IF YOU'RE NOT HUMAN. I feel sure that other readers who have an interest in plants, animals, fish, trees, dinasaurs- the whole of nature- but have limited knowledge of the subject would feel as I do.
Ms. Batten's writing is packed with humor and anecdotal material- just the right amount in just the right places. It is obvious she has done her research. Her descriptions are spot on, and she gives attributions to well known researchers from major universities and institutes. Try it. You'll love it. Doris Gwaltney

SEX...now that I have your attention...,
This review is from: How to Have Sex If You're Not Human (Kindle Edition)
"How to Have Sex If You're Not Human" by Mary Batten is a fascinating collection of essays that while illuminating the reader on why and how other animals and plants "do it" (i.e. the opening act of reproduction) will also expand the mind in ways way beyond the prurient passions we humans generally associate with all titillating titles containing the word "sex".
Learning how other organisms reproduce, survive, thrive...continuing to pass along their ancient yet evolving genetic codes is of great importance as we continue to discover more about each sex's strategies in the survival of their species while reflecting on the similarities and dissimilarities in our own human experience. And besides...it's a fun read! I wholeheartedly recommend this book on Kindle...and all of Mary Batten's works available on Amazon.com! |
