Jeanne Shay Schumm, Ph.D., is a professor and chair of the Department of Teaching and Learning at the University of Miami School of Education. She teaches courses in reading assessment and instruction and is actively engaged in research on reading. She has coauthored over 75 research articles.

Not what I was expecting,

While this book is a good resource for parents, it was not what I was expecting. There is only one chapter dedicated to "trouble shooting" and speaking to parents having difficulties working with their children.

An accurate title,

The title sums up this 193 page book well. It is clear that the teacher-author speaks from experience. I'm glad there is now a revised and updated edition. Parents of regular and special education students in elementary grades benefit from Schumm's skill in showing how to enhance learning abilities in children.
