A must for all Star Trek and Mystery Fans!,
By A Customer
This review is from: How to Host a Mystery: Star Trek the Next Generation/Game (Hardcover)
The "Star Trek:TNG How to Host a Mystery" game allows 8 guests to assume the roles of their favorite Next Gen characters. Combined with food and costume, you can be swept away into the 24th century for an evening and become a suspect in the theft of the Legendary Orb of Knowledge! Use your imagination and ingenuity to accuse the other players of the crime as well as direct the suspicion away from yourself. Very enjoyable game for anyone wanting to do a little role playing and to solve a mystery. You do not necessarily have to be a Star Trek fan to enjoy this game, but it does help you in knowing many of the technical terms and character personalities of the Away Team members suspected of committing the crime. Highly recommended!

This was just bad,

Chock full of incredibly bad puns (such as Doctor Rom Ulan), and more sexual innuendo than ever occurred during the entire run of Star Trek: the Next Generation, it would have still been redeemable if the mystery was good. Unfortunately, the mystery itself becomes so convoluted, as to basically make it to where at the end of the party, you just randomly select one of the eight away team members, and hope you were correct. Unlike other Murder Mystery party games, where you can easily expand and include more guests, this game has a fixed eight players. Any of those beyond the initial eight have no interaction with the mystery, and wind up having to be passive observers.
This game is just bad. I still had fun getting together with friends, but we could have had a much better time if the mystery were better. |
