I rate this CD 4 stars out of 5. The playing is good and even. I perfer Kenny live, so these songs might be better live. Don't hesitate to purchase, I'm just picky.

I am so loveing this cd,The more it grows on me and the more i play it the more I have to turn it up,Kenny is such a great song writer and awsome guitar player ,The first half of the cd is some great new tracks with Noal killing it on vocals they are truly great songs,The second half is kenny haveing fun and reminding everyone that He does rank up there with the greats like Clapton and SRV and Robin trower and beck, and he just goes to a differnt planet on track 12 with that great song song Who is gonna hold you now, to me it has the greatness of black on black but with Kenny singing, this is my fav song on the cd and then they just flat out kill it with the old school blues number on track 13,all i have to say is Wow,for us blues rock fans we have something to be proud of and some new music to wear out and man I am gonna wear this cd out,The Kenny wayne shepherd band has to be the come back band of the year with this cd,They better take there time and release about 5 songs off this cd because there are some really great songs, great great cd,,I Mean IT,,,ja your not just gonna want to be one your gonna wanna buy two cds cause you will wear it out early,

This is Kenny Wayne Shepherd's best album. The samples don't do it justice. Buy it, crank it up and listen to the best blues album released in years. ~ Stratist

The new cd is a compilation of old and new hard driving blues/rock tunes. In past music I have heard primarily SRV influence, however I hear more Hendrix in this outing. The first track sets the tone nicely, but the distant video game type sixteenth notes in the background spoil the song for me and make it a little too ZZTop. The best surprise for me was the cover of the Beatles tune "Yer Blues". I thought the solos were nearly perfect on this track and the sound he gets on the rhythm guitar are dirty and perfect. Throughout the cd, double trouble adds great depth to the songs. KWS has a decent singing voice, just not my style (a bit too nasal and country sounding for my taste). Thankfully, this is kept to a minimum and only abrasive on two tracks. His voice is better suited for the high harmony parts. They even brought back a song reminiscent of Blue on Black (Baby the Rain Must Fall). This cd has something for everyone. Great to finally hear another studio cd - 12 years was way too long. Definitely recommended for KWS fans!

I am gonna start out by saying "The special edition is the only way to go on this", if you dont, you are missing out. Why only 4 stars? Well, is this their best effort? Maybe. Is it my favorite? No. Trouble Is is my favorite, but How I Go is close to being up there. The last song on the Special Edition Track 17: Baby The Rain Must Fall is definately one of my favorite KWS songs now. As a whole this is a great and strong release and is showing KWS and Noah maturing together. And lets not forget the rhythym section here, Chris Layton and Tommy Shannon. They knock it out of the park. I see a few people kind of ripping on KWS vocals on a couple songs he does, Cold and Who's Gonna Catch You Now. I think they are great. It changes up the texture of the whole album and Noah brings in his strong vocals on the chorus of these two songs. Actually I could see Who's Gonna Catch You Now being a hit single off of this. It has an Uncle Kracker kind of vibe to it. Showing a more pop side to it. This is a geat album. I found a few too many slow songs for my taste. I like the more rockier, edgier blues. Slow Ride and Kings Highway and such. Needles to say, Awsome and this will be getting played out in the truck for awhile. Rock on KWS and Noah Hunt.

I consider "Live On", from 1999, one of the best guitar albums of all time and have waited for that level to return to KWSB releases. I enjoyed the last few albums but this release finally gets us back to a winning formula with great vocals from Noah, fantastic new songs, and great chops from KWS. I like all the songs and think Kenny's vocals have gotten better so I don't think any of the 17 cuts are a waste. The addition of Mr Shannon and Mr Layton is especially welcomed. Definitely worth the wait.
