"How To Improve Dining Room Service" by Richard Saporito is a very thorough and helpful book. Every restaurant owner should invest in this book!

I give this book five stars as the author has left no stone unturned. If you have a question in running the restaurant business, you can bet you will find the detailed and helpful answer in this book.

I like how the beginning of the book describes what the customer will immediately see and feel about a restaurant. Also, there is a small guide to restaurant terms used throughout the book. The next part of the book are restaurant tips. A scenario is given and detailed tips follow to help the restaurant owner run his establishment smoothly.

It is wonderful that the book gives you a "test" with multiple choice answers to make sure you understand every important aspect of running the best restaurant as possible. (Which in turn will give you more revenue.)

At the end of the book there is a consulting guide followed by pages for your own notes. I am going to use this guide to rate restaurants when I dine in them. Super helpful!

This book is a must have for any restaurant whether new or existing. It is a good tool to use to recapture and reinforce the basics for a successful customer experience in the food industry. Richards 30 years experience is evident in the way how he details every area to build a new restaurant from day one to capture and keep your customers coming back. This book is also available in ebook form and I think it is also a good addition to the hospitality field for the classroom as well.

How to Improve Dining Room Service is a very detailed, useful book. If you own a restaurant, work in one and especially if you manage one, this book is a must read. The author does a great job explaining ways to make service better and how to more effectively run a restaurant. It details all areas from wait staff to sanitation. It is organized so it can be easily read. Suggestions are offered, ideas presented and there is even a quiz to test your understanding. Many of the suggestions are easy, practical ideas that will immediately make a difference in service. In a time when many restaurants fail and customer service is generally lacking, this book paints a positive approach to finding success.

How to Improve Dining Room Service is an excellent book. I don't give very many 5 star ratings but this book deserves one. It is a guide to improving dining room service. Each area is treated as a section, such as sanitation, scheduling, dining room awareness. Within each section are numerous, practical, do-able things to do in order to improve. There is also a 50 question quiz that focuses on testing your knowledge. It would be a great tool to use in training wait staff. There is also a restaurant evaluation form, which would be good for sending in mystery-shopper types to your restaurant, and a notes section for jotting down your own things to look at and check out. The book also has suggestions for managers as well, to help things run smoothly.

This book has knowledge that can be transferred to other areas as well, if you have a business, use this as a basis for creating your own improvement checklist and ideas. It's a definite purchase for anyone thinking of starting a restaurant or already running one.

This is a well-organized book that clearly and precisely details the ins and outs of dining room logistics. Working in restaurants for about 10 years, this book does not miss a beat. It covers sanitation to team building and everything in between for running the front of the house operations in a restaurant. The valuable tips are bits of wisdom to provide a pleasant dining room experience and satisfied customers.

Because I am not in the restaurant business any longer, I lent this book to the dining room manager at the local restaurant. She took the quiz to test her present knowledge before reading the tips and found ways to improve the dining room service. Even being out of the restaurant business, I enjoyed the simplicity and organization of information. It was meaningful to me because it gave me a model to organize the details of my new business venture.

I would definitely recommend this book to anyone in the restaurant business. It's a must have to improve dining room service.

I found this book at the perfect time. A good friend is in the process of revamping her restaurant. She was having many problems with staffing and organization. After I read this book I was able to offer her better advice on how to get her business in shape. I shared the book with her and after she was finished we went over the Restaurant Performance Evaluation Guide.

She was quickly able to see many areas that she needed to make changes to. Her biggest help was learning about cross training the staff. she was constantly having employees call off and would be short handed. If she would have had some of the other employees trained in other areas they could have helped fill in.

There are many valuable tips in this book. Everyone who is involved in any way with a restaurant should take the time to read it.

I decided to read this book mostly out of curiosity. While I don't currently own my own dining business, the plans are in the making for the future for a restaurant style company. I will be keeping this book on hand to refer back to when the times comes! It provides so much useful information, down to the little details that I'd never have thought of otherwise.

Currently my husband and I own our own home based business and found that much of the material in this piece can be applied to just about any type of business...not just a dining room. There is a section at the back of the book for testing your knowledge about what you'd just learned by reading this piece and for keeping notes, etc.

This book will be well worn and many pages dog-earred as it truely is the all around essential guide to improving service. It's well put together and a quick read that will be put to much use!
