About the Author

The author of three highly acclaimed "How to..." guides, Countess Valentina Artsrunik, is no stranger to either controversy, notoriety or wealth.

She was born in Eastern Europe, behind the then Iron Curtain, into a family of considerable pre-war wealth and pedigree.

Dispossessed after the end of the war, the family was viewed as politically dissident and Valentina chose to marry an elderly Frenchman in order to leave the country.

There followed a succession of marriages, each an excellent "match "in terms of wealth and connections.

She has travelled widely, attended countless social functions, raced horses, and enjoyed the company of the jet set on each side of the Atlantic. She has been a regular in society columns for many years and still is to this day.

She lives in London with her husband the legendary John McVicar - an author and a media pundit.

3.0 out of 5 stars A quick guide for beginners; a refresher for veterans, October 14, 2006
This review is from: How to Join the Club of the Rich and Famous: The Shortcut! (Paperback)
Yes, the facts are obvious, but at least they're neatly organized in a little pocket book. If you're selling or marketing to the rich and famous, this book tells how and where to spot this crowd. It's a quick guide for beginners and a refresher for veterans.

Don't expect in-depth insider information though. Like most pocket books, it only touches the surface. One need to be constantly reading magazines that target at the rich and dive into the scene in order to really get in the know.

Obviously written tongue-in-cheek, this is a very amusing read.

Lots of helpful tips, too. I thought at first it was a bit dated, but on reflection, I decided it is timeless.

I wouldn't have thunk it. I am quite surprised that there are books like this. . .

For all who are hell-bent on "joining the club of the rich and famous," please take your contriving and deceptive energy elsewhere and, please, in the meantime, try to ameliorate upon your contorted and insular outlook on life. . .
