2.0 out of 5 stars Insulting to physicians, February 20, 2006
This review is from: How to Join, Buy, Or Merge A Physician's Practice (Paperback)
To begin with, this book does contain some nuggets of useful information and could serve as a reminder of things you might otherwise forget to evaluate when looking to join or purchase a practice. So it is not all bad.

The major problem with the book, however, is that it is written by a pratice management consultant. This book is extremely self serving with regard to consultants, recommending in almost every chapter that you hire a consultant. Often in the book, rather than actually providing useful information, it just states that you should hire a consultant because the particular area is too complicated for you, as a physician, to possibly understand.

One of the most obvious examples of its insulting tone is in the chapter on bank loans. The author basically states that you should never talk to a banker without a consultant present, as if to imply that physicians could not even understand the lending process.

Nowhere in the book does it even attempt to balance its viewpoint by mentioning to watch out for unscrupulous consultants.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fabulous Book!, June 19, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: How to Join, Buy, Or Merge A Physician's Practice (Paperback)
This book is the bible for physicians looking for a job! Each chapter starts with questions to ask potential employers/ partners in regards to a particular topic. The questions range from the obvious to those you'd never think of. The advice offered is sound and easy to follow. As a graduating resident I found that this was information that I could not find in any other source. I highly recommend it!
