Editorial Reviews

About the Author

Bernie Siegel, M.D. embraces a philosophy that is at the forefront of a society grappling with medical ethics and spiritual issues. His books, Love, Medicine and Miracles published in 1986, Peace, Love and Healing in 1989, and How to Live Between Office Visits in 1993, have broken new ground in the field of healing. Over the span of twenty years, physicians have become increasingly more receptive to his message. Bernie's efforts have now turned toward humanizing medical care and medical education, and he continues to travel extensively with his wife Bobbie, to speak and run workshops, sharing his techniques and experiences. Bernie and Bobbie have five children and six grandchildren (so far). --This text refers to the Paperback edition.

From AudioFile

Bernie Siegel is a surgeon whose philosophy is that love, hope and respect prolong lives more consistently than medical science. In this program he backs his assertions with anecdotes from his years of medical practice. The presentation is delightful. Siegel reads with a voice that laughs but also lets the listener believe it can cry. There's obligatory elevator music at some transitions. Otherwise, the program is outstanding, with impeccable sound quality. D.W.K. (c)AudioFile, Portland, Maine --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

5.0 out of 5 stars Bernie Hits a Homer Again, March 18, 2006

(REAL NAME)
I think I have every one of Dr. Bernie Siegel's books. I started in 1990 when I was diagnosed with cancer and needed some support and information. I have recently returned to them again due to a heart attack. Bernie is the most compassionate doctor I have ever encountered. He understands the connection between mind, body, and emotions thoroughly and offers concrete suggestions for making life better no matter what physical ailments may assail you.

His other books dealt heavily with getting what you need when hospitalized and from your doctor and other medical staff. This book focuses on simply living life to the fullest, as he says, "between office visits". It is a wonderfully uplifting and encouraging book and I highly recommend it to anyone: patient, loved one, medical staff, and general public. I believe there is something in it for everyone.

The book in a very loving way tells you how to live, instead of just existing, with a disease or chronic illness.
