"You can afford the luxury of a negative thought," states self-helpster Sher, author of the best-selling I Could Do Anything If Only I Knew What It Was (Delacorte, 1994). In this lecture, she does not teach positive thinking, self-improvement, or creating one's own reality. "If you think that your mind is so weak that you can just repeat something to it 20 times and it will believe you," she claims, "you don't think much of your mind." Sher stresses the creation of an individual program for overcoming the obstacles to fulfillment. Some of her topics include searching for what one really loves; getting unstuck; dealing with resistance as a sign of healthy self-esteem; using a flow chart to plan one's goals; conquering fear, boredom, and compulsive behavior; and throwing an idea party. This will do well in most large self-help collections.?Ravonne A. Green, Emmanuel Coll. Lib., Franklin Springs, Ga.
