It is sad if we believe when God created us, He would place us in an unstable realm to exist, to be subject to disease, weakness, and dying, without an empowering ability to overcome them and live free from their effects. This practical understanding by Norval Hayes leads us into experiencing, not just knowing, by believing and putting application to the scriptures. I promise you this, "Jesus is Lord. He will perform in you what Norval reveals in His book." Why? God is immutable and cannot lie. But you are mutable, and can change. Your answer is nearer than you believe. Buy the book, it will help you know... You will live and not die.

I've read and heard many many different teachings/preachings for and against the use of faith and the expection to believe in a specific result, however this book is a refreshing and straight forward display of truth and truth explained.
I have personally been involved with several different episodes where people were praying and speaking the Word of God, and they didn't receive what they were praying for. I have also personally experienced great manifestations (both instantaneous and gradual) of the healing/delivering power of God. This leads some to take a stance that God is arbitrary, and "Faith teachers" are promoting demi-god theology, etc., etc. The problem with taking this stand is that you would have to dub Paul, James, David, John, Abraham... oh and JESUS a heretic for they're bold and unflinching messages of tenacious trust in the promises of God.
Norvel Hayes, in "HOW TO LIVE AND NOT DIE", does a masterful job of teaching from the Bible why God's Word is everything, and how God has invested everything in His Word. I was greatly helped in understanding why I received sometimes, but how I would sometimes simply stop meditating on what God said, and listen to other people, and therefore not receive what I had originally confessed.
Hayes reveals testimony after testimony of the goodness and power of God in action. There is even an example of a man who was about to die, but his wife wouldn't quit reading and proclaiming the scriptures over him continually. At that moment his condition began to change, and because of her peseverance in action on the truth, he did live!
A must read for the one willing to Hope.

This book is a practical guide to getting help from God.I know of a person who put into practice the teachings of this book and her cancer stopped.The doctors at Johns Hopkins are in awe.This book is a must for seriously ill people!Thanks to Mr. Hayes for this guide.

While studying the scriptures in this book, as well as FF Bosworth's "Christ the Healer", I received healing in my body. I have come to understand that healing is in the atonement. To God be all the glory!

This book, if taken literally, will revolutionize lives. Unfortunately, few of us have the persistent, determined faith of Norvel Hayes. He has proven the truth of these precepts by his own health, wealth, and history of helping others overcome major obstacles, and has written down the blueprint of his success for those who have the determination to learn and apply these invaluable lessons to their own lives. Thank God for teachers like him.

This book was absolutely excellent! I sent it to a family member who's husband has been sick with liver cancer a couple of weeks prior to Christmas and she has read it and applied it. He was feeling so much better that they were able to travel and visit us this past Christmas It teaches the power of the words in my mouth... Speak to it! Have faith... believe. Mark 11:24 says "Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them." No matter how long it takes, repeat it DAILY... Believe and God will show up if it lines up with the word of God. Awesome!!! I'm speaking things over my life such as 'My husband will live and not die, in Jesus name!' and I have already seen changes in my life. The devil cannot have my husband, or my marriage, or my children, or my life!... God desires that we have life in abundance and healing... and SO MUCH MORE. I am claiming what the Word of God says for me and my family!!! Praise God for He is HOLY! He is El Shaddai... The God Who is Sufficient for the needs of His people!!

If I had to sum the book up in one sentence, it would be, "This book is about a God who still works miraculous things."

The writing is easy to understand and not too long, based on Scripture.

As a young woman, I was given over to a terminal cancer diagnosis and the doctors gave me approximately 6 months to live. I will always remember sitting in my doctor's office while he told my parents and me, through his tears, to make preparations for what we were facing. Not much later, the way was made for me to go to Cleveland, Tn. and sit under the teaching of Dr. Norvel Hayes. For almost 2 years I attended Norvel's bible school. I obeyed what he taught...searching scriptures, hiding them in my heart, confessing them with my mouth, binding the disease at the roots...speaking to the mountain of cancer and commanding it... in Jesus' name... to be removed and cast into the sea. I claimed complete victory in the atonement of Christ by the authority invested in his name, which has been given to his body (Ephesians 1: 17-23). I lived in the scriptures...night and day... guarding my heart above all things...and I learned to worship the Lord. I learned to shut myself away...alone with the Lord...and to walk the floor and bow my knees and confess the healing scriptures and claim them as mine. I would worship the Lord Jesus until His precious anointing would come to me... I learned to not be ashamed of the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ , which is the power of God unto *salvation (strongs greek concordance #4991- health,deliver,salvation,rescue). Today... I am so happy to testify to anyone who will hear...the Lord is the same...yesterday today and forever. Jesus went about doing good...healing all who were oppressed of the devil and healing all the sick who came to Him and He still is healing those who come to Him today. It has been 27 years since the cancer disappeared...totally...miracuously...to the Glory of Jesus...don't be afraid of the gospel of healing...but rather forms of godliness that deny the power there of. I honestly think there are very few people who have the gifting of faith and teaching that Norvel has. If you are facing a giant of disease...avail yourself to Norvel's teaching...particularily his teaching, "How to Live and Not Die" which can be found for free on videos posted on the internet or in cassette and probably cd form from his ministry in Cleveland, Tn. .. This is a guide on using faith in teh word of God to heal. Faith comes from hearing the word of God and believing it. Mr. Hayes writes that a rock solid faith in the word of God is essential to understanding the principles behind divine healing. If the word is not reliable, then there is no power or truth in the word. Conversely, if the word really is the inspired word of God, then all the promises made in the Bible are valid today, for God cannot lie, and he is the same forever. This is the premise of the book. It is quite simple and does not require a seminary degree to understand. One's faith in the written word as the absolute authoritative word of God is the foundation for understanding and applying healing principles. Mr. Hayes gives many examples from his personal testimony of people who experienced miraculous cures with simple trustworthy faith.

Mr. Hayes is not seminary trained nor (when he wrote this book) had a divinity degree or Bible college degree. He writes simply, but with absolute confidence and authority. His personal experience using faith in the word and speaking the word over diseases is his calling card to authenticate his premise. I found the book inspiring in that he has the courage of his convictions to believe the word of God and then to apply it in a practical way in his life.

Mr. Hayes was the inspiration for Ms. Emily Dotson to overcome the disease of Lupus. Her story is a wonderful one and is very much worth reading From Defeat to Victory: Emily Dotson's Life as Healed of Lupus.
