This review is from: How Long (Audio CD)
Whether or not you like 70s AM pop, you might like Ace. They had that big top forty hit "How Long." This was not bubble gum, but that streemlined, professional pop that got so big around the time Steely Dan really started to cook.
If you listen to "How Long" you can't deny the musicianship, even if you don't like the senseability. That Fender Rhodes, the rock solid glossy bass and those back up vocals let you know: this was high end stuff.
But on their albums, Ace actually had that slick, country fried sound that a lot of the better 1970s singles bands had. It is professional, it is mainstreemed, but it goes down easy and is a joy to hear, especially by today's homoginized pop standards.
If you can get this cheap, do it.
