Practical advice,

I read the book in about an hour, which I considered very well spent. I appreciated the practical examples and down to earth advice. If you don't read it for any other reason, it's worth it to get the template for how to set up a budget... which before this book, I considered a 4 letter word. The advice on buying jeans was funny, light-hearted, and smart to boot.

Let's face it. A lot of people don't know how to track the money they are earning & spending. Brian offers a lot of information on what to consider when budgeting your income & expenditures. It's solid advice for someone who doesn't know where to start and needs a great primer. It's really easy to read, sometimes funny, and has great tips on saving money!

This book changed my outlook on budgeting. I'd never really wanted to put together a budget because I figured it was too hard and time consuming. Thankfully, that's not really the case! After reading this book, I sat down and developed a budget -- and it took only 45 minutes or so.I really enjoyed how the book followed up the budgeting advice with about 75 to 100 ways to cut your spending without really affecting your lifestyle. Very high recommendation for this ebook!

I knew almost everything in the book already (I got if for free) and hoped to learn new info that might help me out. This book is great for people are looking to start to save money. If you have been in the game for quite sometime this book is not for you.

While my husband and I are humble, blue-collar workers who have always been careful with money, I would highly recommend this book. It is full of common sense pointers that even people who have always watched what they spend can learn from. This book would be excellent for young people just starting out in life. Let's face it, nowadays, money is not something we can just throw away.

I would consider myself a fairly frugal person, I track my expenses on a regular basis, and manage my investments conservatively. Needless to say, I still found many snippets of practical reminders and useful approaches for managing my money and making wise purchasing decisions. The author's notes on saving up for discretionary items I thought were particularly helpful. It was an easy ready (I got through the book in under 2 hours). Well worth it.

Good advice mixed with some so-so,
This review is from: How to Make a Budget: Get Out of Debt and Start Saving More Money (Kindle Edition)
After skimming through this book, I'll say that while the advice in it is mostly sound, I was a bit disappointed by some of the suggestions. While some may not think it's that big of a deal, I through the requirements to use software like excel, quicken and the like were slightly unnecessary, at least in my experience. I've personally had much more success setting and maintaining a budget on a piece of paper, since it keeps me from moving numbers around later in the month to fudge things. Overall the book was good, but this is just a bit of a personal peeve on it.
