Framing, Router cuts, & table saws,
By
This review is from: How to Make Picture Frames: 12 Simple to Stylish Projects from the Experts at American Woodworker (Best of American Woodworker Magazine) (Paperback)
If you own a router, router table, and table saw you can do almost everything in this book with minimal purchases of additional equipment. This book has simple instructions, very clear pictures to explain procedures and a variety of helpful tips. Written primarily for the novice, it offers a variety of very helpful tips and a variety of cautions of what not to do. For the expert, it overs fewer tips but the jig set-ups and instruction has good potential to inspire advanced set-ups beyond what is discussed. In particular, the flawless set up for perfect miter cuts using a table saw was great and can be used to quickly produce frame cuts. The router molding set-up showed great tips for smooth routes with perfect symmetry and the variety of options given in the project section included so many possible miter, router, and wood combos, that creating infinite frames of quality and variety will be inspired. With all things, experience is the key. Working from the front to back will allow novice woodworkers the chance to master basic and advanced concepts and challenges. The last project is an heirloom project, but really mastering the skills presented in this book will allow you to produce many frames that can be passed on to many generations to come. Have fun!

Good book. To the point, lots of pictures and comprehensive. I think the most useful part of the book is the tablesaw jig plans for cutting perfect miters.
