Before Wild at Heart and Why Men Hate Going to Church (I recommend both highly) there was one influential book that made me proud of the testosterone God put in my veins. Jim makes men realize we don't have to act like women in the way follow Christ's command to "make disciples of all nations, peoples, tribes and tongues." It wouldn't work anyway because trying to use gifts you haven't been given is useless. Men have the opportunity to be as tough as Jesus was on his best friends so that we offer a rugged, difficult challenge in following Christ. Why sugar coat things? Being a Christian is hard. Men won't respect you if you try to make everything comfortable and easy but if you're honest and authentic then they'll be more likely to take a longer look at the Gospel even when they have made fun if it (and you) in the past.

I first heard Jim in the 80's as he spoke at our church in Longview, Tx. He had just returned from a trip to the U.S.S.R, and told of such unbelievable obstacles our church family there was having. We began supporting him and his wife, Dolly as a church. He returned for our mission conference each year, and each year got better and better. He delivers the truth with honesty, humility, sincerity, and an amazing sense of humor. You will truly enjoy this work!

I know this author and his family personally and even if I didn't I would read and recommend this book over and over again. If you want to be challenged and changed to walk out, in your life, all that God has called you to as a mighty man of God...then you MUST get this book.
