Crystal clear introduction to your true nature,
By Tom Davidson-Marx (Honolulu, HI) - See all my reviews
This review is from: How to Meet Yourself: ...and find true happiness (Paperback)
You have probably read many reviews which begin with a line proclaiming the unique worth of a book. Take your pick: this is a must-have book for the spiritual seeker, this book will clear up the Great Matter once and for all, etc. My line: this is an absolutely first-rate presentation of the heart of nonduality without lexica borrowed from the New Age (which, as Robert Bly once remarked, rhymes with "sewage"). Do your True self a favor--read this book. If you are new to the spiritual marketplace--read this book. If you are an Advaita old salt--read this book. Dennis has done us all a great service in presenting a profound, perrenial truth in a disarmingly easy to digest form. I initially balked at the presentation, as it is admittedly disguised as a self improvement book. Mid-way through the book it became quite obvious that the self-help premise collapses delightfully--that self improvement is an oxymoron. Thank you Dennis for this gem of a book.

The Ken Wilber of Advaita Made Simple,

This review is from: How to Meet Yourself: ...and find true happiness (Paperback)
Dennis Waite is, in my opinion, THE authoritative voice on Advaita Vedanta writing today. This particular book presents the nondual teaching in a much more accessible format than his other two works, `Back to the Truth' and `The Book of One', which offer more erudite expositions and research. `How To Meet Yourself' is superb for those new to the subject or wanting a more relaxing read. Highly recommended.

Pure advaita - I guess,

Dennis Waite knows his Advaita and when you're done with "Meet Yourself", you will too. The book traverses the land of what you are not for about 250 pages, which is approximately 200 pages too many - but you (ha ha) get the point. It's wordy and, ultimately, not all that intriguing. There are better and more concise books out there. Liberation from the Lie: Cutting the Roots of Fear Once and for All

Very good, but might be "elementary" for some readers,

I enjoyed this book, and can't say I disagree with anything basic that it is saying, I think Mr. Waite has good insight and found this book as a result of finding his website.
I was able to get through it pretty quickly because his writing is clear and simple. The only other thing I might say about it is that (at least for me) it seemed a bit elementary. I think it might be a great book for someone not well versed on "Eastern thought" and such, but I had read (or should say studied) Schopenhauer's main works way back in the 70's and have thought much and read a bit of related materials since. I particularly like Wei Wu Wei's (Terrance Gray) approach, who is basically saying the same things but I am sure his writing style would be very confusing to those new to this way of thinking. Reading his (and Schopenhauer's) writings takes a lot more time to read just a few lines at a time and think/digest it. I think the only reason I didn't rate this book at 5 stars was that for me it was nothing new (to me). Interestingly he used some very similar methods to explain some points to what I myself used on my 2020-insight website. Great book if you are not versed in Eastern thinking, Advaita and such philosophies.

Now this is a Book that will serve as your Bible for the rest of your life. It's not new-age garbage and feel good crap about knowing God. It's the best I've ever read on Zen and the best on everything for that matter. Superb. A Gem. A Jewel on every Page. Buy the damn thing. You will not be sorry. If you have an open mind and are capable of critical thought. Be well. Don Lessnau

It is kind of a dry ponderous read, but with a lot of good information.
