5.0 out of 5 stars Most entertaining of the expectand dad books!
Funny and informative. Bought this for hubby but of course read it first. Thicke is in great comedic form, lots of interesting facts, and although he has lots of physiological/medical info it's not overwhelming...Also a very quick read- laughed aloud alot and then passed it on to my better half.

1.0 out of 5 stars I was disappointed
As a future daddy, I was looking for some words of advice and tips as to how I can support my wife during her pregnancy. I chose this book for two reasons. As a future daddy, I was looking for some words of advice and tips as to how I can support my wife during her pregnancy. I chose this book for two reasons. One, It was written by one I respect as a better than your average actor. Two, it was new on the market and there were no reviews for it. I was disappointed in the book. It seemed a little tacky and a few punch lines were added for humor. The book sits on my bookshelf ready for the next garage sale. If you are an expecting father, I found the next book that I bought to be the most useful: "The Expectant Father : Facts, Tips, and Advice for Dads-To-Be"

4.0 out of 5 stars Not bad, but, not wonderful, October 11, 2005
By
I got this for my husband. Alan Thicke is kind of consistently and gently slamming or joking about women and thier behavior while pregnant. It is humorous most of the time... so I didn't have a problem with it. But, If you're looking for a book that is really educational or filled with knowledge about pregnancy-this isn't it. Like the title says, this book is more about teaching men to cope with thier wives while the are pregnant than it is about pregnancy.

1.0 out of 5 stars Is This A Pregnancy Book Or A Tribute To Alan Thicke?, September 8, 1999
By A Customer
His book rambles on and on. He talks about his life in Hollywood, his trophy wife and the Miss America pageant, renovating his guest house, his birth place in Canada, his teenage kids and a lot of other drivel. Where is the info about having a baby? Occassionally he'll touch on some pregnancy things but he jumps around so much it's hard to follow. If you're interested in Alan Thicke's life buy the book if you're interested in pregnancy from a guy's perspecitive forget it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Just what the doctor ordered!, May 1, 2000
After reading so many books that are filled with facts, statistics etc. It was REALLY fun to sit down with a lighthearted book that really made me laugh. I already knew the odds of a pregnant woman over 40 giving birth to a baby with Downs Syndrome, and why it's not OK to drink while you're pregnant. This is not the reason I went to a book by Alan Thicke. If you just need to be entertained and relate to the stories he tells, buy this book!

3.0 out of 5 stars A lighthearted quick read., April 11, 2010
This review is from: How Men Have Babies: The Pregnant Father's Survival Guide (Paperback)
I purchased this book at a time when I couldn't find a book that gave men advice on what to expect during the pregnancy process.
This book was lighthearted - each chapter (about 20-25 pages long, on average) goes into each month of the pregnancy, and there are some funny celebrity quotes and funny stories of the author's life that made me chuckle. The quotes and the stories have a purpose, as they go with each month's "theme"; also, they provide levity to each chapter so that it reads quickly. Also, there are some good points to each chapter, enough to give a general primer of what is happening in each month of the pregnancy.
I've read the book twice (it can be read in 1 or 2 sittings), enjoyed each time I read it, but will be passing it along to other first-time dads, as I don't have much use for it anymore.

5.0 out of 5 stars How Men Have Babies: The Pregnant Fathers' Survival Guide, March 20, 2000
By A Customer
I thought the book was hilarious. Alan really showed pregnancy from a man's point a view. During my pregancy I know my husband shared a lot of the thoughts that were in the book. This book shows just how multi-talented Alan is. Not only is he a actor, singer and producer but this book shows that he is a best selling author as well.

5.0 out of 5 stars No doubt that he knows what he's talking about!, June 29, 1999
Mr. Thicke has done a wonderful job of capturing how a new father feels. It's hard to find a good pregnancy/parenting book for fathers, but this one has got my vote. It was fun to sit down and read his thought on pregnancy and know that someone knows exactly what you are going through. I would recommend this to any new father. I only hope he writes a sequel about after the baby is born and all the fun adventures you'll go through.

5.0 out of 5 stars I thought this book was funny and interesting, March 24, 2000
I really enjoyed this book. We as woman know what we are feeling those 9 months of pregancy, its nice to see it from a man's point of view. It was fun to compare Alan's experience to that of my husband's. I think it takes a lot of courage for a man to put his pregancy thoughts and fears down on paper for the world to read. This book just show's another talent of the multi-talented Alan Thicke.

I thought it was a good book, Alan showed the man's point of view which most of us woman can't see during the 9 months of pregancy. We know what we as woman are feeling but in this book we can see the man's side. I also enjoyed the quotes from other celebrities. This book show's another talent of the multi-talented Alan Thicke, he's a great author too.
