4.0 out of 5 stars A Fresh Look at Living in Small Spaces June 30, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I love reading Kindle books on organizing around the house. I always get a great idea or feel motivated to make changes. Reading books on organization are great if you need to clean out a closet or garage. This book also explains how to make rooms appear larger. Something I hadn't read about in any other book. However the author does not mention using mirrors which is what I do in my apartment to make rooms look larger. She does spend a lot of time discussing furniture placement. There is also a clever idea to find out which clothes you don't wear in a year. So before your small space "devolves into chaos" get this book and take the no mercy approach. This book will help you get rid of the clutter and make your small space a home.

2.0 out of 5 stars Ok guide July 13, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This book is ok if you have no concept of clean or organization. It's very common sense info and didn't add much useful info. It is very short - and would work better as a pamphlet, bochure, or essay. Not worth it.

This book is not as informative as I thought it would be. I actuall wound up deleting it off my Kindle shortly after downloading it. All of the info provided is common sense. Not worth the time!

2.0 out of 5 stars No photos! July 16, 2012
There are no photos in this book. I need to SEE what's being conveyed. What I've read so far is so basic it seems aimed at a child or someone of junior high level.

A waste of time, and there aren't any pictures. A 60 second search on the Internet will be much more helpful.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great tips to get organized!! July 16, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
This book was a wonderful, easy, and informative read! The author writes using such an easy-to-understand tone and dialect that I was able to finish the entire book quickly and with ease. The book does a fantastic job of explaining the basic steps to getting organized, especially when dealing with small spaces; something that I definitely needed help with. Now, thanks to Heather Lane, I feel confident and very pleased with my new organization strategies; something I bet a lot of people could learn how to do better! Ms. Lane's writing is superb and I highly recommend this book to anyone interested in decluttering!

4.0 out of 5 stars One of these days, I'm gonna get myself organizized August 8, 2013
Most of my home and kitchen product reviews center around the fact that I live in a small (2-1/2 rooms), urban (New York City) apartment which I share with a cat. Every square inch has to count, and common sense must dictate its usage. Since I am considerably lacking in "square-inchage" (and common sense), I found Heather Lane's "How to Organize Small Spaces" to be quite useful. Did I use every tip? No. Did I use even half? No. But I have to admit that many of them did apply, some better than others. For the first time in years, I have seen the back wall of my hall closet. One thing that I did on my own (and I was surprised that it isn't emphasized enough in Ms. Lane's book) was donate a lot of stuff to charities. My stockpile of murder mysteries was donated to a senior citizen's center. And several items of clothing which haven't fit me in years made their way to Salvation Army bin. What did remain, however, is now neatly arranged for the most part. I found the sections about clearing bedroom clutter to be the most useful.

Now, if I can only clean up my cluttered writing style.

This experience taught me to read the reviews more carefully. Heather's book takes 10 minutes to read and there were no clever or useful suggestions or pictures.
