Book Description

December 1, 2005
There's more to good horsekeeping than just having cool tools and a head full of timesaving tricks. Want to learn a better way to ice a leg, which doesn't cost an arm and a leg? The perfect wound medication to carry with you everywhere? A hands-off, no turning, totally automatic manure management system? The perfect hand cart, stall floor, disposable bedding, water trough cleaner, manure fork, equine weight-loss program? The best way to feed a stall-bound horse? You'll find these and more in this book. How To Be The Perfect Horsekeeper brings a wealth of new people, tips, tricks, tools, methods, and research that make horsekeeping pure pleasure. That means several things. Less work, surely. More time to play, and more money to put toward whatever is important to you. More effective ways of caring for your horse. But also-and perhaps most importantly-less worry. That is, a greater sense of security that when you stroll to the barnyard in the predawn hours-when the world belongs to nobody but you and the early birds-you'll find healthy horses, living contentedly, at the top of their game. "With a passion for grass-roots education to improve the lives of horses and the people who care for them."

5.0 out of 5 stars Good horse sense, July 8, 2006
This review is from: How to Be the Perfect Horsekeeper (Paperback)
The book is full of great information for anyone who cares for horses. I like the practical, easy to understand recommendations for various products and wealth of information on ways to protect my horse from himself and from his environment. This book helps weed through so many different products -- helps you find what works for you -- without trying everything on the market. I have given copies of this book and others in the Perfect Stall series to my friends who love and care for horses.

If you are already perfect, then you won't need this book and can write your own. However, for the rest of us who are always interested in a better way of doing things, then this is the book for you. I found it extremely interesting and full of all those wonderful ideas that you might pick up here and there from hundreds of conversations with seasoned grooms and horse owners, if you have that kind of time and connections.

I've always appreciated good, common sense advice about products, and tips on how to use them. That alone is worth the price of the book, made back in what I have saved. THANK YOU Dr. Hayes, for yet another excellent publication!!!
