4.0 out of 5 stars It Worked for Me
I also got this book from the library. No problem downloading the online material. The only issue I have is the word "Basic" on the cover. The material is this book is not "basic". I consider myself a solid intermediate player and I appreciated finding lessons that don't start with the blues scale, pentatonics, slides, hammer-ons etc. This stuff had better be old...

2.0 out of 5 stars Advanced players only
NOTE: I borrowed this book from my local library, and was thus unable to access the "free audio lessons online", since the password was omitted from the library copy.

I rate this book with two stars because it is for advanced players only - but it is subtitled "The Basics and Beyond". That's deliberately mis-leading. I've been playing for years and the...

This review is from: How to Play Rhythm Guitar: The Basics and Beyond (Paperback)
NOTE: I borrowed this book from my local library, and was thus unable to access the "free audio lessons online", since the password was omitted from the library copy.

I rate this book with two stars because it is for advanced players only - but it is subtitled "The Basics and Beyond". That's deliberately mis-leading. I've been playing for years and the first lesson was WAY beyond my skill level.

It might be a valuable book for you if you can already play A LOT of scales, diads, triads, inversions of the same; and are comfortable moving these up, down and across the neck, quickly, and with accuracy.

But if you can't, buy something else.

I consider myself a solid intermediate player and I appreciated finding lessons that don't start with the blues scale, pentatonics, slides, hammer-ons etc. This stuff had better be old news to you when you open the book or you'll be frustrated very quickly. I plan on buying the book.

1.0 out of 5 stars Rhythm Guitar, May 22, 2009
This review is from: How to Play Rhythm Guitar: The Basics and Beyond (Paperback)
This book is not written for beginners and the book cover is misleading.

It also says that you can download the book lessons from the web. Looked all over their website but could not find it. Sent in an email asking where to locate the page to download the online lessons and you get an answer with no answer. How frustrating!

Would not recommend anyone to purchase this book.
