1.0 out of 5 stars is this a joke?, March 10, 2001

I waited 2 months to get this. WHen it finally got here, it was a sparse hand written manusript, along with 2 home made VHS tapes. I played the first one. It opens with the author sitting on his sofa trying to play a classical piece. It is so poorly done, and he is way out of intonation. I thought it was funny until I realized how much I had paid for it. This guy is most likely a first year student himself.

3.0 out of 5 stars TEENAGER VIOLINIST PLAYER, August 23, 2004
This review is from: How to Play Violin - Begining and Intermediate Levels (book + 2 videos) (Plastic Comb)
WELL THIS IS A TOTALLY HOMEMADE VIDEO, REALLY THIS DIDN'T MAKE ME MORE EXPERT OR ANYTHING LIKE THAT, BEFORE BUYING THIS VIDEO I BOUGHT A BOOK AT A MUSIC STORE, CALLED HOW TO PLAY THE VIOLIN, LESSON 1, WELL, IT THOUGHT ME A LOT AND VIDEO ISS ABOUT THE SAME THINGS I RED ABOUT BUT OF COURSE WITH GRAPHICS WICH JUST MADE ME UNDERSTAND IT BETTER. IT'S A GOOD VIDEO IF YOU DON'T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT VIOLIN, BUT IF YOU ALREADY KNOW HOW TO HOLD IT, AND WICH STRING IS WICH THEN YOU WON'T NEED IT, IS TO BEGGINERS.........THAT'S WHY I RATE IT WITH 3 STARS..........

4.0 out of 5 stars saved me money on lessons, March 26, 2001

Although obviously a home made video, the instructor presented clearly how to read music, proper techniques, etc. Violin lessons around here are expensive, $20 for a 45 minute lesson. With these videos and book, I have enough instruction to save a lot of money and am making progress with violin playing. Not a Hollywood production, but I am more interested in learning the violin. I couldn't find any violin videos anywhere, just always guitar. I got the videos quickly.
