Excellent resource,

Barron's EMT-P workbook is an excellent resource for future medics. The full-length practice tests are wonderful.
One down side to the book is that the questions from the front of the book are repeated in the full-length tests, i.e. some of the questions that are in the categorized sections (such as "Trauma") are found later in the back of the book with the complete practice tests. A positive is that some of the answers are fully explained...some, NOT all. The good ones include the rational behind why the other choices are incorrect. The questions in the book are very similar to National Registry type questions. (All of the writers are from Ohio, which is where Nat'l Reg is located.) If you are studying for Nat'l Reg, I would recommend purchasing this workbook and a second book with practice test questions. I know that most medic students are poor, but it is really worth your money in the long run. Try to get a book that correlates with your text--then you can more easily look up the sections that you need more help in.

the Cherry book (if you have the Brady textbook). I bought both and between the 2 passed on the first go around. I would have given this 4 stars but there are a few questions, maybe 2 or 3 that are wrong or conflicting. When you get to them you will know. All in all, the questions in here were more like the ones on the test than the Cherry book, but I only took the test once and I know there are different versions of the Mational Registry test. I would suggest getting both early and start studying well before the test due to the enormity of the subject matter.

EMT/Paramedic Study Guide,
This review is from: How to Prepare for the EMT Paramedic Exam (Paperback)
This book has helped me remember alot of things that are forgotten because we do not always do everything by the book in our line of work it is hard to do. So it has given me some new ideas to try in the field and has helped me prepare greatly for the National Registry Exam.

It Helped Me Pass,
By MAX MEDIC (PA, USA) - See all my reviews

Good review book. It has questions that I always thought was "nice to know" information that I found out was "must know" information when I took registry. The questions are tricky with lots of terminology like registry. It helped me pass.

This book has many scenario-based questions just like the actual exam. It also has detailed explanations of the answers. The three practice test were a challenge. I highly recommend this book.

Very Challenging Book,

A very challenging book with questions that make you think. The correct answer choices are not obvious like with other review books. I recommend this book to prepare for National Registry because the correct answer choices on Registry are not obvious at all.

The Best,
This review is from: How to Prepare for the EMT Paramedic Exam (Paperback)
I have had the opportunity to look at several review books in my 13 years in EMS. I recently had to take National Registry for a flight-medic position. This book has the best material and questions that I have seen. It pointed me to the material I was weak on. I highly recommend it.

I had troble with my first attempt at national registry. I then purchased this book along with several others. This book was very useful because the questions are in a similar format to registry. The scenario questions are very good.

Not bad at all,

Just took the writtem test. Some of the questions were right on. Alot of questions based off of a "paragragh" which is unlike the National Test. Over all good help in forcing you to think like a Basic and use your ABC's first. Not up to current AHA standards as most other guides aren't either so some answers no longer correct. This book ranks up there with the blue "Learning Express" guide.

Thank You!,

I went to a school that did not challenge me. I graduated with a 96% GPA and hardly opened a book. When I got this book and scored a 70% on one of the practice exam, I thought the book was ridiculous. When I took registry the first time and failed, my eyes were opened. This book helped me a lot and got me by on the second registry attempt. My school should have done a better job preparing me for registry but lucky for me, I bought this book. Thank you!!
