The Best Praxis Book, November 2, 2005
This review is from: How to Prepare for the Praxis (Barron's Praxis) (Paperback)
I've been preparing students for THE PRAXIS tests for many, many years and I have been reviewing Praxis books for over ten years. This is the fourth edition of my favorite Praxis book and it is still my favorite. There are seven full length tests and the multiple choice and constructed response strategies and examples at the beginning of the book really help my students on the tests. The book keeps the excellent PPST mathematics, reading and writing. The review is very good and there are many practice problems and questions with explained answers. There are two practice PPSTs each with fully explained answers. The PLT section has been expanded to an extra chapter to include more help with writing the constructed response answers and with more practice problems. There is a realistic practice version of the new PLT, also with fully explained answers. There are three full length Elementary Education tests in Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment, and Content Knowledge and Content Areas Exercises tests with extensive answer explanations and recommended short answer responses. The book is worth the money for these tests alone. The overview of other subject assessments has been expanded. One example is the Fundamental Subjects test. I worked with a few students who needed this test for certification in their home state and the 40 practice questions in here were very helpful. You should not get the book ONLY for this section, but if you are taking one of the other Praxis tests this section of the book may be all the help you will need. Barron's also added a practice ParaPro Assessment test with expla9ined answers and with review steps. I have students who take this test to work as paras on their way to becoming teachers. I think having the practice test in this book is a great idea and very helpful to prospective teachers. My students like the side tabs Barrons added to help find sections of the book. This book comes with a CD or without a CD. The CD contains the ENTIRE BOOK and has tests in an automated self scoring format. In my opinion that makes the book and CD combo worth the extra $8.00 here on Amazon. Either way this review book is a great deal and it is the most cost effective way to prepare for the tests. I recommend this book to every student who will take a Praxis test.

Excellent helper, January 9, 2007
This review is from: How to Prepare for the Praxis (Barron's Praxis) (Paperback)
Barron's "How to Prepare for the Praxis" was essential in helping me pass the Praxis exam. I worried about the math portion of the exam for months because I knew several people who had been unable to pass that section. Barron's provided more information than necessary in order to be sugccessful in all portions of the praxis. The sample tests were also very helpful.
