As an clinical administrator for residential services for an older population, I have seen first hand the devastating effects of the fear of falling on older people. Betty Perkins-Carpenter has provided a direct, easy-to-use approach to improving balance for seniors. How To Prevent Falls offers a life of continued independence and dignity for people for whom both are easily lost. It can provide the basis for activities of daily living program for seniors centers, and residential facilities. As people remain more independent the staff can focus their services on enhancing the quality of life. It is MUST reading for every person who has influence on or cares for a senior citizen.

5.0 out of 5 stars This Is A Great Book, February 23, 2007

(REAL NAME)
The book, How To Prevent Falls is excellent. It is well written and professionally illustrated. It contains loads of information and easy to do exercises that really do make a difference. They are fun, too! Another nice feature is that it is easy for seniors to read because the type is not too small and the page layouts are very clear. This book makes a great gift for older people. Not only that, the author has her phone number in the book so anyone can call her with questions. And, if you do call, she is very nice and seems to really enjoy talking to people who are concerned about preventing falls. Wouldn't it be nice if more authors were like that?
