Simple training steps with great rewards.,
This review is from: How To Prevent And Stop Dog Aggression: Using Everyday Terminology For The Everyday Dog Owner (Paperback)
I have known David for more than 10 years as a friend, as the dog training officer for the Nashville International Airport and as a regular trainer for your average canine companion. I have referred several dogs to David for basic obedience training and for aggressive behavior modification. I am familiar with every dog listed in this book because of our referral or post-training socialization testing at our hospital. I must admit that I was a great skeptic about his ability to modify the behavior of a couple of these dogs. But I was amazed at how quickly he turned them around to be the sweet, gentle pets that every household desires. After reading this book, I was astonished at the simplicity of the training techniques, and yet the achieved results are absolutely remarkable. In all honesty, these techniques can be utilized by anyone that has the time, patience and persistence. This is a MUST READ for every pet owner and not just those that have pets with aggressive tendencies. I have already begun to share some of these tips with my clients.

Pamphlet, not book,

This is a pamphlet, not a book. It is 50 pages, but would actually fit in half that. It is the trainer's experience rather than overarching principles and is not very helpful as to "how" to work with aggressive dogs. The book is not worth the cost and I was very disappointed.

The purpose of me writing this book was to try and share the appropriate knowledge with as many dog owners as possible in hopes of keeping as many dogs as possible from being surrendered to Dog Shelters or Animal Control for Aggression issues. I hope you enjoy reading this book as much as I enjoyed writing it.

Worked like a charm,
This review is from: How To Prevent And Stop Dog Aggression: Using Everyday Terminology For The Everyday Dog Owner (Paperback)
Our dog began to show food aggression seemingly out of nowhere. Like the book said, we were treating our dog a bit too much like a human. So, instead we verbally corrected him when he growled at us while eating, removed the food from him until he calmed back down, and then used treats to distract him from his aggressive pattern while eating. Any time our dog starts to get "too big for his britches" we just go back to the methods described in this book like placing a nice bit of meat (we used turkey instead of hotdogs) in a hand in his food bowl. After that, feeding returns to a fun time instead of a threatening time for our dog! Great book, spot on, and easy to read and understand!

I have personally witnessed the miracles that David Frensley can work with aggressive dogs. As a veterinarian, I see many clients with problem dogs, and David Frensley is an invaluable resource. I am thrilled that now he has written down his training techniques, and I highly recommend his book.

I've known David most of my life and have seen him train many different dogs from all differnt backgrounds. My husband and I recently got a puppy and he's the person I call when we have questions about behavioral issues. While our puppy isn't aggressive, I found this book extremely helpful. The training is pretty basic and I appreciate David putting it into language that's easy to understand. I now have new ways to work with our puppy to keep him from becoming an aggressive dog. Since we have a toddler and another baby on the way, we want to be sure our pup is well behaved at all times. I think my favorite part of this book is that David gives training tips that anyone can do to help prevent some unwanted behaviors, so even if you're dog isn't aggressive this book is a very useful tool.
