Don't waste your time with other books. Read this first! I screwed around with other books, and even a few video tapes before running across this. I underestimated the book at first (mainly due to the title-it sounded to me like one of those "I'll show you how to make money!" garbage books) But, I was presently surprised, and my shirts didn't turn out well until I read this.

It is written by Scott Fresener who is one of the industry's leaders, and he also runs a screen printing school in AZ. Many of the other books I've seen are on a craft level, or talk about ways of doing things that are from the 70's and way out of date.

This book will give you a good overview of the whole process, equipment used and your options at several price levels (home made to large production), and even has plans to make your own press. It is a valuable resource that will save you lots of time and money.

I recently had the opportunity of attending one of the seminars taught at U.S. Screen Printing Institute, in Tempe, AZ, the company whose founder (Scott) wrote this book. It was there that I got my hands on this book. The book totally takes you through the ins and outs of printing T-Shirts, whether you want to do it (as the title says) for fun or as a serious business. It not only discusses the technical part in enough detail: it also goes into the marketing and sales of your product. Scott has shared in this book (and all the products he offers) his knowledge and experience of over 25 years in this industry, so that all who are considering taking it seriously as a business don't fall in the same pitfalls he went through. So: don't waste your time and money. Get yourself a copy of this great book. It's worth every penny you will pay for it and more!

Let me start first of all and say that this book covers just about everything you need to know, and more that you don't need to know. Searching online I was unable to find good and free information about t-shirt printing, so I finally broke down and got this book. Despite the rather rediculous price, I was surprised by the quality of the book.

How to Print T-Shirts shows you all the different techniques, it tells you the costs and it even tells you how to build printing machines on your own. The explanations could use a little bit of work, but overall it was great.

Every question you can possibly have about screen printing is answered in this book. All though we had ordered this book and through a series of events we got it over a month late.We purchased other screen printing books while we waited. We could not actually start till this one arrived.
It helped tremendously. It is thorough . The other books were nice, pretty pictures, high art books I am sure they will be inspirtational. But if you are begining ,pay the extra to get this book. If you only buy one book , buy this book. Sorry to all the other authors. This book even deals with the actual buisness.

If you wanted to learn how to screenprint for either a hobby or for a business venture, STOP!! Look no further than this book. This is the most comprehensive book I have ever read dealing with the business of screenprinting. Not only does this book give a fantastic overview of how to screenprint, it also contains examples of forms, blueprints for making a 4-color machine, sample store set-ups, how to market...you name it!! It is worth every penny and then some.

I have been reading other books on the same subject. This one takes the cake, I found it to be the most informative and user friendly of all I have read. If you need to know anything about screenprinting, or you are considering getting into the business this is the book to buy!

Between "the 6 week business plan" and this book, a new business owner would have a fairly strong basis on which to start their own graphics printing company. A HUGE amount of info, tons of good illustrations, etc. I was very impressed.

very thorough. has info on a variety of aspects of the t-shirt business. i am using it in stages as i start my own business. i highly recommend this as a nuts and bolts type book, no fluff.

Listen to the reviewers for this book. Start here before you buy another book. If I had I would have saved a few bucks because this was the 4th book I bought. I am since going back and reviewing the other books I bought and telling people to check out this book.. Very informative and easy to understand.. This is the starting point for anyone wanting to seriously create t-shirts whether for artistic reasons or like me for professional purposes. I have since then gone on to start my own online t-shirt business with this books help as well as some photoshop books that I have read. Do yourself a favor and buy this FIRST!!! (...)

If you have an interest in printing t-shirts for your own enjoyment, or you have ideas of starting up your own 'a bathing ape' style empire, then this is all you need. I found it extremely well written, easy to understand and informative. From the basics of what screen printing is, all the way through to printing 4 colour process to index colour processes. In-depth descriptions on how to make your own screens and light boxes, techniques, everything! Well worth the money!
