More About the Author

Jan Vermeiren is the founder of Life is a Game! This organization is focused on assisting people to live a lighter life via personal and spiritual growth programs.

He is the author of the book "Life is a Game!"

Jan became famous because of his international best selling books "Let's Connect!" and "How to REALLY use LinkedIn". With "Let's Connect!" Jan was the first Belgian author of a book that ended in the top 10 books in the marketing and management category on Amazon. With "How to REALLY use LinkedIn" he did the same, but also reached the overall position on the leading Dutch website Managementboek.nl

More than ever before Jan shows via the book, presentations, work&playshops, living room sessions, seminars and training courses that personal and spiritual growth is not airy-fairy or to be focused on in the weekend, but that is an essential part of a happy and successful professional and personal life.

Like a reviewer of "Life is a Game!" wrote so beautifully: Jan translates high-in-the-sky concepts into down-to-earth practical and easy-to-apply tips.

You can start experiencing this for yourself when following the free e-course "Joyful relationships - Home and at work" on www.life-is-a-game.org.

The authors have done a very very good job with this book (I have read both editions now) . I have used LinkedIn for several years and felt pretty competent with it, but these chaps have identified so many tools and tips on using it I feel like a newby all over. Such tips as keeping up with one tool for all your social networks, using LinkedIn as a steroid fueled people finder, job finder, to increase networking, locating new suppliers or partners, they pretty well cover them all. Their comments on using Groups is worth the price of the book alone. I installed the LinkedIN Outlook toolbar and was amazed at the capabilities now in the tool, (especially good in keeping Outlook contact data up to date, goodby Plaxo!) The firefox toolbar also has some hidden gems wrto extracting contact info from websites. If your job/career requires maintaining a good network, this is a must read and implement book. Google finds information, LinkedIn finds people.

LinkedIn was the first online network I joined back in 2004 and today it's still one of the largest global networks. In the past years lots of extra features and tools were added to the platform and it was about time that someone wrote a comprehensive manual on the use of this brilliant website. Congratulations Jan and Bert, "How to REALLY use LinkedIn" does exactly what it says on the label, it's the best and most complete manual on LinkedIn ... This is what we were waiting for !

I'm not usually a fan of books on social networking. (I really like the old fashioned way of meeting people and developing a personal network). However, I have been active on LinkedIn for over 3 years and use it almost daily. There are many authors who have written books about how to use LI, but their advice doesn't seem to fit with the site. Jan and Bert go through the ways to be successful step by step. They also have a coaching program (no charge) that sends reminders. This has really been beneficial to me. If I had this book from the beginning-- I would have saved lots of time and effort.

"This book is a must read for anyone wanting to enhance their networking skills and leverage online networking tools, especially LinkedIn. Jan and Bert have provided a practical, comprehensive resource with a large number of strategies to apply daily. As an international productivity expert I am often looking for valuable resources to recommend to my clients to boost their personal and professional productivity - I can highly recommend this book. Based on the foundation of the Golden Triangle of Networking, Jan and Bert emphasize a need to give, ask and thank. Do yourself a favor, invest your time and energy in reading and applying the principles in this book - you will be glad you did!"

An excellent book on how LinkedIn works. Sure, there are gaps, and sure, it could do with more screen shots. But that is quibbling. If you want to learn how to use LinkedIn more effectively, this is a good resource.

Before jumping into the practicalities, this book starts with a clear description of the mindset necessary to gain the most benefit from LinkedIn. The authors approach this topic with experience, wisdom and a sense of an abundant world, rather than a scarce, competitive world. As each chapter progresses I am making changes to my profile and practices. For anyone of who using LinkedIn or considering using LinkedIn, this is a must read.
