The authors have done a very very good job with this book (I have read both editions now) . I have used LinkedIn for several years and felt pretty competent with it, but these chaps have identified so many tools and tips on using it I feel like a newby all over. Such tips as keeping up with one tool for all your social networks, using LinkedIn as a steroid fueled people finder, job finder, to increase networking, locating new suppliers or partners, they pretty well cover them all. Their comments on using Groups is worth the price of the book alone. I installed the LinkedIN Outlook toolbar and was amazed at the capabilities now in the tool, (especially good in keeping Outlook contact data up to date, goodby Plaxo!) The firefox toolbar also has some hidden gems wrto extracting contact info from websites. If your job/career requires maintaining a good network, this is a must read and implement book. Google finds information, LinkedIn finds people.

LinkedIn was the first online network I joined back in 2004 and today it's still one of the largest global networks. In the past years lots of extra features and tools were added to the platform and it was about time that someone wrote a comprehensive manual on the use of this brilliant website. Congratulations Jan and Bert, "How to REALLY use LinkedIn" does exactly what it says on the label, it's the best and most complete manual on LinkedIn ... This is what we were waiting for !

I'm not usually a fan of books on social networking. (I really like the old fashioned way of meeting people and developing a personal network). However, I have been active on LinkedIn for over 3 years and use it almost daily. There are many authors who have written books about how to use LI, but their advice doesn't seem to fit with the site. Jan and Bert go through the ways to be successful step by step. They also have a coaching program (no charge) that sends reminders. This has really been beneficial to me. If I had this book from the beginning-- I would have saved lots of time and effort.

When the first edition of this book came out I said that I was in no doubt that the book should be highly recommended to anyone who wants to get the best out of LinkedIn - but this second edition fills me with even more confidence to let my customers and friends know about it. The same solid and easy-to-use advice is in this book, of course, but the new edition is thoroughly updated to the way LinkedIn has adapted and changed over the past couple of years. There are several new chapters, there are links to video modules and there are some additional tools and ideas to help you make the most from LinkedIn. One I like in particular is the section on how to combine LinkedIn activity with your offline, real-world, business networking. Not only does this second edition add even more to the rather brilliant first edition, but it also reveals a little-known secret about the authors: so well-received was the first edition that LinkedIn themselves asked the authors to pioneer a global training programme for them, making this book the one written by the first ever certified LinkedIn trainers. You might not like my recommendation, but as LinkedIn clearly recommend these authors you cannot ignore this book.
