Overall I think this is a decent book, written in question and answer format. I didn't read it until I was nearly 25, but I didn't get it until I was 18 anyway, as a hand-me-down from an aunt. There are a few things I think are a little narrow-minded in his approach, however.

One question focuses a bit on cults. Strictly speaking, a cult is any underground movement/meeting of people that is generally not accepted by the government or status quo. He seems to think of a cult as devil-worshippers or a gang (I admit that he doesn't say this explicitly but implies it strongly). Christianity was once a cult, and many people consider Mormons and Jehovah's Witnesses as cults.

The other is that he seems to presume that most if not all rock music is lewd, crude, sexually explicit, or speaking of murder/suicide. I realize some rock music is like that, but certainly not all. Furthermore, this book predates the current popularity of hip hop and gangsta rap, and I think those are much worse than rock. If anything, he seems to be elitist and conservative when it comes to music, but most older people don't like much current music anyway, so I can't entirely blame him.

That said, there is much other good stuff in this book, but since it is largely psychology, I imagine that a book that has been written in the past five years is more current than this. On the other hand, some things never change, and with a few exceptions this book could have been written yesterday and one wouldn't know the difference.
