He is also a noted expert on practices guaranteeing women's rights in the workplace, winning national praise for his corporate seminar: "Women On The Fast Track."

Schwimmer began his business career as an entrepreneur. Before he was 30, he built his own multi-million dollar food company in Chicago, IL. He has also worked as a corporate executive, consultant, writer, teacher and lecturer, as well as authoring his two best-selling books – "How To Ask for a Raise Without Getting Fired" and "Winning Your Next Promotion in One Year (Or Less)!" both, originally published by Harper & Row. With all the competition for jobs in the business world, asking for a raise can be a frightening gamble. Larry Schwimmer's book shows how to reduce your anxiety, put your best skills forward, and strategize a successful approach. Conflicts in the work world will be forever with us and Schwimmer describes numerous real-life examples that employees face every day. The book is loaded with practical advice on how to resolve problems creatively and turn difficulties into opportunities for better communication and increased cooperation with co-workers. "How to Ask for a Raise Without Getting Fired" will fire you up with renewed enthusiasm for your job and smart approaches for getting ahead. The New York Daily News wrote: "This book should be issued to you along with your Social Security Number. . . it's that necessary." I concur wholeheartedly!

I originally purchased this book early in my career and it has been an invaluable reference for me for many years since. The book is well written with lots of practical tips on getting what you deserve in a way that does not create conflict with your supervisor.

The book has many role-playing scenarios so that the reader can see exactly how aggressive and non-assertive people behave. But best of all, Schwimmer shows readers how to properly resolve a conflict by being assertive. And he goes on to show readers in a step-by-step manner how they can ask for a pay raise they deserve -- and get it!
