I hate the word "fashionista" but those who describe themselves that way would love this book. I first looked at clothes in magazines in the 1960s in the old "American Girl" and "Seventeen" magazines. My love of clothes knows no bounds and this book was a completely different look at styles and dress designing. I can't say I "learned" anything but will keep the book close as one I'll peruse for some time to come.

This book has short takes on style components. Concentrates mostly on innovations and repetitions in fashion over time. I would find it more useful if it were more chronological. I bought it as a reference for vintage clothing identification. There are lots of pictures, which are useful. They illustrate the elements of style.

I adore this book, such a little format and so much information. It's like a little manual that I can carry around all day long. Really great find.
