A Quick but Thoughtful Read, July 26, 2004
This review is from: How Readest Thou? (Mass Market Paperback)
JC Ryle shows again why he is a lasting influence on Christianity with his timeless writing. He is not difficult to understand and his passion for the subject is clear through his writing. Ryle not only thoughtfully explains why we can depend on God's Word as inerrant, but in what may be the best section of this small book, he explains why it is so necessary for a Christian to dedicate themself to this life changing book. He explains the consequences of not reading it and the benefits of a dedicated life. So many more people like JC Ryle are needed today. The world needs more people committed to reading and cherishing God's word, instead of spending their thoughts on fleeting and inconsequential thoughts. JC Ryle will challenge any reader to dedicate themselves in the same manner that his life displayed his thirst for God's Word.

This review is from: How Readest Thou? (Mass Market Paperback)
this book is a very easy read. there are only about 60 pages but they are absolutely packed full of information and inspiring insights. if you are wanting to learn more about the bible and wanting to know how the bible can be proven to be the inspired word of God, as well as learning more how to read it, this is a book that you must check out. and suprisingly to me J.C. Ryle wrote this in a very understandable manner in very simple english.

Absolutely outstanding read - convicting and encouraging!, April 30, 2007
This review is from: How Readest Thou? (Mass Market Paperback)
Do you take your Bible study seriously - if you answer is yes or no, you need to read this outstanding book by J.C. Ryle, Bishop of Liverpool who passed away more than a hundred years ago, but whose writing jumps off each page with relevance and conviction still to this day. If you don't take God's Word seriously, Ryle has some great arguments as to why you should - for example, knowledge of biblical truth is necessary for salvation, and no book can compare to what the Bible has done to literally transform the world and the condition of mankind. If you are a follower of Christ and your Bible study time is less than productive, routine, and dry, try reading Ryle's encouragement as to why the Bible is so often neglected and misused and why all true followers of God must love God's Word. This short 63 page book packs quite a challenge for every reader to take seriously the study of this amazing book we call the Bible. Ryle claims that there, indeed, is no other book like the Bible - no other book can challenge a man more, equip a man more, or teach a man more than the Bible. No other book was written like the Bible and no other book must be read like the Bible must be read, studied, memorized and meditated upon.
