5.0 out of 5 stars Comprehensive technical information for Ford FE Engines
If you own a Ford car or truck which has a big block FE engine you need to have this book. This text is absolute in its coverage of all technical specs found throughout the successful history of this legendary engine series. Included are idiot proof step by step procedures for the entire overhual of a big block Ford, as well as very exciting narative on the racing...

3.0 out of 5 stars Great book if you are rebuilding an old block out of an old car with original parts
Great book if you are rebuilding an old block out of an old car with original parts. Lots of basic info. Apart from the basics, this book is useless if you are (re)building an engine using new and modern performance parts for a hot rod or kit car. Then again, the book is 22 years old. Missing were Torque tables and how to basically tune the engine and the carb for the...

This review is from: How To Rebuild BIG-BLOCK FORD ENGINES (Paperback)
If you own a Ford car or truck which has a big block FE engine you need to have this book. This text is absolute in its coverage of all technical specs found throughout the successful history of this legendary engine series. Included are idiot proof step by step procedures for the entire overhual of a big block Ford, as well as very exciting narative on the racing history of these NASCAR dominating monsters. There are also chapters on engine diagnoses which are so well written and useful, that any owner of an older engine would do well to read. Excellent for any Ford, musclecar, or car repair buff.

4.0 out of 5 stars My Mistake, February 2, 2003

This review is from: How To Rebuild BIG-BLOCK FORD ENGINES (Paperback)
It is an excellent book on the FE and FT big block Fords. I should have taken the time to load the cover page so I could see the fact that it does not cover ALL Ford big blocks. The 385 series Ford big block is NOT covered in this book. I simply purchased this book based on the title and incorrectly assumed it would cover the 385 series.

This review is from: How To Rebuild BIG-BLOCK FORD ENGINES (Paperback)
Great book if you are rebuilding an old block out of an old car with original parts. Lots of basic info. Apart from the basics, this book is useless if you are (re)building an engine using new and modern performance parts for a hot rod or kit car. Then again, the book is 22 years old. Missing were Torque tables and how to basically tune the engine and the carb for the breaking in milage. Not much point having the engine professionally tuned or dynoed if the engine is not yet broken in, you have to do it again after a few 1000 miles.

4.0 out of 5 stars Make sure it includes your engine size, March 18, 2007
This review is from: How To Rebuild BIG-BLOCK FORD ENGINES (Paperback)
From the title I assumed it included the Ford 460. I ordered the book for that specifically and it was not included. As a book it is very thorough and includes many photots and step-by-step for a complete rebuild.

I rebuilt my first engine, a 390 FE, with this book. It is worth it's weight in GOLD. From pulling the engine to bolting it all back in and turning the key, it's all covered here. Rebuilds are surprizingly easy and the satisfaction of doing yourself is the best reward.

3.0 out of 5 stars big-block ford engines, October 9, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: How To Rebuild BIG-BLOCK FORD ENGINES (Paperback)
How can a book about ford big blocks not include the 460.
If you own one of the engines listed on the cover you will
probably love this book, but it was a waste for me.

This book is geared more to the novice doing their first engine rebuild. Very informative. Not the book if you are looking to take the motor to the next higher level.

2.0 out of 5 stars Dated, not enough photos. Too general., May 19, 2010

This review is from: How To Rebuild BIG-BLOCK FORD ENGINES (Paperback)
I wanted to rebuild my 390 and bought this book to help me with that adventure. I was sorely disappointed with the outcome. The book lacks any real instruction and serves as a general overview of the breed - Ford big block motor. There are some photos but nothing that is useful in rebuilding or repairing other than photos of placement of accessories or other things. If you are attempting to build a BB motor look elsewhere with regard to instructional manuals.

Thanks for reading my review.

5.0 out of 5 stars Big Block Ford Engines, April 7, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: How To Rebuild BIG-BLOCK FORD ENGINES (Paperback)
It was a used book, however it was like a new one and the book itself is very good, especially for an unlearned person wanting to know about the big block engine. The author is very good in describing how to remove, rebuild and replace the engine.
