Frank Adler's own experience demonstrates the real opportunity that many property owners have to reduce their taxes; his book offers a practical guide to doing so.
About the Author:
Frank J. Adler, a 22-year veteran of the jewelry industry, certainly knows how to spot a diamond in the rough. After earning a B.A. from Penn State, he worked as a computer programmer, teacher, and salesman, then became a diamond and color stone merchant, fine jewelry manufacturer, and precious metal refiner, a renaissance man of sorts with a wide range of interests and abilities. As a craftsman, he mastered the art of successfully challenging the property tax system. He lives with his wife in Miami, Florida.
Frank Adler is not a lawyer, accountant, or tax consultant; he's an average citizen spurred to action one year by an unreasonable jump in the assessed value of his Florida home. Plunging into the bureaucratic maze, Adler successfully challenged the assessment and won a reduction of his property tax. To date, he has challenged assessments eleven times on various pieces of property and has been successful in reducing the taxes every time.
In his book, Adler simply describes what the property tax is and how it works. He explains the three basic methods by which the government assesses market value and shows the weaknesses and pitfalls of each. From clerical transcription errors to inappropriate comparisons with other properties to failure to follow the letter of the law, there are many reasons why the official valuation of a piece of property may be incorrect or invalid. -- From the Publisher
