The best available as far as I know,

This review is from: How to Rescue Your Loved One from the Watchtower (Paperback)
David Reed has written a book that's really a revelation to every person who is genuinly interested in saving a loved one from the Watchtower, or is really interested in the subject. Not the Bible is authoritive for Jehovah's Witnesses, but the teachings of this organization, no matter how contrary they are to the doctrines found in the Holy Scriptures. Usefull strategies are in detail outlined in this book to rescue someone from the Watchtower. Very much worth reading and studying.

Practical Advice,

This review is from: How to Rescue Your Loved One from the Watchtower (Paperback)
As an ex JW, David knows the mental states that a person goes through when getting involved with this cult. Practical insight into how a person thinks at each stage of involvement helps to tailor the approach you take.

This review is from: How to Rescue Your Loved One from the Watchtower (Paperback)
This book has an insiders view on how to rescue someone from the mind controlling grips of men. It has an invaluable asset in that it contains articles from The Watchtower Society that can be coppied and cut to look as if you were the one who found the article. This book is a treasure for anyone with a need in this area.

This book had hoped to be a great learning tool for someone. Yet the pages during certain parts of the book did not follow in sequence, nor were the subjects related. It was most confusing.

There are many books about Jehovah's Witnesses on the market but, as far as I know, this is the only complete, systematic approach to witnessing available.
This highly organized approach is in itself debatable, as the Lord Jesus Christ Himself instructed His followers not to meditate about what to answer, because He would give us words and wisdom that no adversary can resist. (Luke 21:14,15). The book starts suggesting some witnessing techniques that I personally consider deplorable. For example, Mr. Reed tells us that, when dialoguing with JWs, Christians should "play dumb" (page 33), pretend that we are interested in their teachings, and to keep our real intentions secret. What mentality is this? On page 46, Mr. Reed tells us that: "{counter-cult} books are best left unseen and preferably unmentioned to the Witnesses". What are we supposed to do? Hide this books before the JW comes into our house and deny that we have read them when asked? This is lying, and it is not a respectable behavior for a Christian. The end does not justifies the meanings when it comes to Christian conduct. According to Reed, the most powerful tool one can use when witnessing to Jehovah's Witnesses is photocopies of their own literature; I tried, but it was a total waste of time because every time they would say that somebody had tampered with the copies; so I bought the originals but, with few exceptions, the JWs would not be very impressed either. They would always try to find a logical answer. What really works, as far as my experience goes, is not showing a bunch of photocopies, but showing them that I have something they don't have: Jesus Christ in me. However, getting to know the history and teachings of the Watchtower before witnessing is a good idea, at least for your personal information, and this book will give the necessary knowledge in that sense. |
