Not a place for trash,
This review is from: How to Get Rich Selling Cars to Women (Hardcover)
My name is Patrick Davis I have written two books on the same subject and have been in the car business for nearly 19 years. In my opinion this is a good book. One of my books has been available on Amazon since 2000. A friend of mine recently called to my attention the reviews that are being posted for books that share a subject category with mine. I am very disappointed that Amazon would allow people to write such distasteful drivel disguised as "reviews" with such titles as "Two Fatties what do they know about cars, trucks maybe?" or "Not Worth the Read, What do Two Old Ladies Know About Selling Cars??, or " Pritch "Pritch"
Get a real job and stop writing these waste of time books", or how about "This Book is a BAD read--I mean really bad, STUPID DUMB POORLY WRITTEN, This book stinks bad ! ! !" Opinions (reviews) are like eyeballs, and elbows everybody has got them. However, when it comes to reviewing sales training books I have more authority than most, and I think this is a good book if your intention is to sell cars to women. Selling cars to women is a smaller niche than I write about. I train salespeople to sell to both genders. However, many principles are the same. It looks to me like another author is using the review section. Most of what I see is what you might expect of bullies on a play ground. I am very disappointed when I see this side of people. I am more disappointed that a company like Amazon would allow this trash to be published under the disguised as "reviews".

Finally, a book on selling,
By A Customer
This review is from: How to Get Rich Selling Cars to Women (Hardcover)
I liked this book because, it directed me how to actually sell. So many books address how to market to women, but I found the tips here insightful and a real assist in selling more to my women customers.

People in the car business need this book - they REALLY need this book. Research shows that women buy 65% of all new cars, and handle 65% of all automotive service calls. Yet, with all the variations there are in women's income, age, family status or preference, there's one thing that most women can agree on: car dealerships don't have Clue One about how to sell to women. Car salesmen (92% of dealership salespeople are men) need help understanding that women in the car market research, shop and buy differently - and that's what this book is designed to give them.Based on comprehensive industry experience, Rebecca Maddox and Marti Smye have created a truly engaging and highly usable "how to" handbook that lays out EXACTLY how a salesperson can dramatically boost his effectiveness in closing sales with women buyers. Insights are illustrated cleanly and clearly within the parable of a Sherlock Holmes mystery story. And each chapter closes with a concise and articulate summary of the important observations and the key do's and don'ts of each stage of the sales process. The business opportunity is enormous for people who practice these principles - both men and women, whether selling cars, computers or consumer electronics. As a specialist in the field myself (my book, Marketing to Women, was released in January 2003), I can tell you the insights in this book are essential, the recommendations are simple and effective - and the application of these principles will certainly and substantially improve sales. The automotive world has been waiting for this book - Run out, buy it and read it before the next woman walks into your showroom!

Thanks for emphasizing that it's the person purchasing the product who needs the proper info and "attention".Become skilled at identifying the customer. Your Sherlock Holmes experience makes me aware that we as salepeople need to be detectives to find the correct approach and not just jump to and easy conclusion. Dr. Watson shows Customer Service is a step by step process and the importance that all involved need to be aware of the buyers determination to be sure they make the best decision. While your approach in this book targets women, a good salesperson will use this approach to sell to any customer. Customer Service must be based on knowledge not assumptions. The book was easy to read and had good value to me. It makes for a quick refresher. Know the Customer, make the Sale.Good job.

Things that make you go Hmmmmm:What a concept, "Listen to the customer". I found this book an easy read that related to personal experience. I've certainly gone shopping with my wife and had a salesperson speak directly to me when the purchase decision was clearly going to be my wife's, my only question was "does it satify our needs". Vehicles are a large expenditure these days and most people borrow to purchase or lease the car because they "believe" that it's cheaper. Explaining the benefits and drawbacks to the decision maker is the key to the sale. This book gave me an easy to follow approach to understanding the advantage of learning the decision makers concerns and doubts and concentrating on addressing them. I'm a salesman and it opened my eyes to be more observant to the customer that makes the ultimate decision not just the easy one to talk to. There isn't a salesperson out there that doesn't know a Sherlock. Fun to read, thanks.

While recently vacationing in Mexico, I walked by a gentleman who was basking in the sun. I noticed that he was reading a book, "How to Get Rich Selling Cars to Women." I immediately stopped in my tracks and asked if it happened to be by Marti Smye and Rebecca Maddox, and sure enough, it was! He offered that he found it to be very informative, explaining that it teaches "five stages of change" which can really help in the changing of behaviors and attitudes...and not just in selling cars to women. I'm now anxiously awaiting the arrival of my own copy!

Informative and effective.,

By understanding the way women relate to the sales process and by placing more emphasis on relationship building and less emphasis on product features, I have learned to customize each sale to the particular wants and needs of the individual customer, increasing my closing percentage by over 300%. Best of all, my high customers satisfaction record has led to many referrals - drastically minimizing my need to prospect by traditional methods. This book is not like any other - these techniques actually work!

Price it low--there's no magic,

How to sell cars to anyone, male or female: price the car low, give good service and treat the customer right. With the internet, everybody has the same info, most people buy the car from the lowest price dealer--dah!This book is not worth your time. Instead if you really are going to perseverate on this topic (which I believe is falacious, because selling cars to women is no different than selling to any other group) READ PATRICK DAVIS'S book. At least the Davis book makes some sense, provides tips (for selling to anyone) and is an easy read. Forget about MaddoxSyme book--the only thing this book demonstrates is that these 2 know nothing about cars and even less about selling cars. I give this an F on all counts.

AWFUL--DON"T bother, instead watch paint dry!!,
By Alan (Columbus) - See all my reviews
This review is from: How to Get Rich Selling Cars to Women (Hardcover)
My title says it all. These writers are way off the mark--they know NOTHING about selling anything to women (for that knowledge read Faith Popcorn or Tom Peters--these are truly authors who know what they are talking about and base their books on something called research) Poorly written, boring, provides no new info or thoughts on the subject. One would wonder how such a trashy thing got past a publisher, until you see that the writers published it themselves. What a gimmick, but don't go for it
