5.0 out of 5 stars How to Get of Psychoactive Medication:Faithful Recovery for the Spiritually Inclined
I found Jim Harper online by accident. I wanted to get off my lexapro, celexa, klonapin, and ativan, all drugs prescribed by a psychiatrist for depression, anxiety and insomnia. I had gained 30+ pounds taking these drugs although the doctors (there were three) all told me the drugs were not indicated for weight gain--HA! I hadn't slept for years and was desperate to sleep...

It is difficult for me to review this item, as I had it sent to someone else for a gift. The recipient indicated to me she had received it and read it, but that is about all I know. Sorry!

I hadn't slept for years and was desperate to sleep on my own without having to take a drug at night. Who wants to be on drugs for the rest of your life just to sleep. I read Jim Harper's book (which was only online at the time) and started the program he recommended to taper off all drugs. I did have to buy supplements which cost over $300 but I knew it would be worth it if I didn't have to buy a sleeping medication for the rest of my life, or an antidepressant. Do you know how much those drugs cost in a year???? So I began the program of supplements October 5 and by January 10 I was off all antidepressants and sleep medication completely. At the beginning there was some side effects as my body adjusted, but within ten days my body was used to less medication as the supplements helped to calm me and I began to sleep all through the night. As I write this in August (not yet a year since I have been off all medications), I sleep without taking a drug and am calm. If I have days when I am depressed or anxious, I do take Body Calm or Body Calm Supreme and feel better. My husband is amazed because when my head hits the pillow, I am asleep within a minute. There is nothing more healing than a good night's sleep--sleep without drugs. If you have been on medications and want to get off because of side effects, weight gain, and just the realization that you may have to be on them for the rest of your life, please try Jim Harper's program. He saved me from psychoactive medication hell. Those prescription drugs do mess up brain chemistry and, in the long run, may probably do more harm than good. Thank you Jim Harper for all your hard work in finding a method to get off these drugs.
