Book Description

May 1998
This guide is intended for those who use the Web to find things. Those in this category include researchers, librarians, journalists, executives, students and the millions of surfers who regularly use the Web to pursue their varied interests.

As the Web continues to expand-now estimated at about 100 million sites and counting-this very expansion threatens to overwhelm the user and make it difficult, if not impossible, to zero in on material of interest.

If the Web is to realize its potential, there must be an easy and accurate means of finding information in cyberspace. That is where search engines come in. How to Search the Web explains, in non-technical terms, how the major search engines work and describes their strengths and weaknesses. Basic and advanced search procedures are discussed, with sample queries included throughout.

How to Search the Web is a vital reference, opening a world of information.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Beginner Guide to Various Searches and Differences, November 11, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: How to Search the Web: A Quick-Reference Guide to Finding Things on the World Wide Web (Paperback)
At first I thought this 54 page spiral bound book would be too basic for me. Then I read it. The author details various search engines, how to and which to use in what circumstances. A few of the concepts and sites listed brought me exactly what I needed in a short period of time. Great for the beginner or intermediate web surfer. Also, data is current.
