Ginsberg's book is an excellent primer for those just now realizing something that is called eBay. 2.0 out of 5 stars Readable, Good Information, But a Serious Omission
This book has good information for the learner eBay-er. But it has a serious shortcoming. It has no index! Much of the book seems to be written down as narrated by the author. This means it is very readable, but the information on each topic is scattered in several sections throughout the book. Finding a topic for the first time (or trying to recall where it was) is...

Ginsberg's book is an excellent primer for those just now realizing something that is called eBay. The first 100 pages provided, for the most part, stories drawn from Ginsberg's own personal experiences on eBay, the trial and the error, etc. If you have been using eBay for buying and leisurely selling for six years as I have, you will find most of what he has to say as a good reminder of the days when there were no manuals to tell you what or what not to do. Back in the early days of eBay, you learned the hard way. This book ensures you won't have the learning curve that myself and Ginsberg had to battle through.

The final 200 pages are a bit better in getting into the details of what things to do right and what things to avoid doing. There were small pieces of information I did not know, which I found helpful. At times he would plug his own products, which is fine, I suppose, but I would have appreciated a little bit more beef in the advice he was giving.

If you have ten dollars to blow, this is a worthwhile investment. If you don't, you could find many of the hints and tips Adam provides in a newsletter online or on eBay itself.

And, if eBay University comes to your town, take advantage of it. You will learn a lot about how to operate a real business on eBay.

I recommend that graduates of Ginsberg's book move on to read Debra Schepp's eBay Powersellers Secrets book, which provides substantial information about how to find products to sell, etc.

My own advice is to take it slow. There is not a fast cash way to success on eBay. You have to do your homework and experiment before finally finding your niche. Be patient, study hard, and read books like Ginsberg's, and you will do just fine.

4.0 out of 5 stars WORTHWHILE ADVICE, May 6, 2005
Can YOU make a million dollars as Adam Ginsberg claims in this book? Well...probably not. I mean the key to an e-commerce business is having a good product. You're not going to make a million dollars on eBay by trying to sell your old Beanie Babies or Furbies, that's for sure. Ginsberg is an unabashed fan of ebay as he sells eBay as much as he sells his own book. Ginsberg gives a lot of fairly valuable information on starting up your own eBay business but it still all comes back to having a marketable product to sell which ultimately is the key to success. I've been selling on eBay since 1997 and have sold thousands of items but I've always considered it more of a past time than a business. Ginsberg provides some interesting ideas of setting up shop, however as well as providing tips on listing items, photography, taxes, etc. But if you're an experienced eBay seller you'll probably be aware of much of this. All in all I was fairly impressed with the book. I've read a lof of books on Ebay that were designed solely to sell books and not any useful information and Adam Ginsberg's book is one that stands out from the pack.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Book to start your eBay selling!!, October 22, 2005
This book is a great for getting started on eBay. It's easy to read and has great suggestions on how to list our items. I started selling some things I have around the house and making some money!! Nothing huge but this stuff is essencially free for me. It is surprizing what someone will pay for things. I just followed what he says in his book.

The downside of the book is that he promotes his own eBay listing products. He mentions that his isn't the only one out there... remember that. It's an infinite internet world out there and there are more people/companies offering the same thing. Just do your research.

He is honest and gives great suggestions. It's easy to read and inspiring. It's great for people who want to try selling on eBay but just didn't have the guts to try. This will get you going...

For those who are already selling on eBay... I think there are great suggestions and insight you can pick up from this book too.

Happy eBaying...

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best Book on eBay EVER!, April 16, 2006
As the CEO of a small 4 person start up, I was referred to this book by a friend (and avid eBay seller). Although I was highly skeptical, I purchased on the book Amazon and awaited for it to arrive. It arrived on a tuesday afternoon. The next day, read on the train to and from work. I was done by the time my train arrived home at the end of the day.

I am so glad I made the decision to take my friend's advice.

Adam Ginsberg spends the book using stories and analogies that are so easy to understand and relate to. He gives you examples of why you might be overwhelmed at first - and then outlines how to overcome any initial obstacles you might have.

This book contains 100% actionable, specific and flexible step-by-step processes for building a personal ebay success system. It isn't hard to do - I got mine up ang going in two days. I learned how to incorporate eBay into the success of my start up company and the results have been phenomenal.

With the help of my small staff, we're now making over $3,000 per week on eBay. I'm a better leader and my staff truly understands what they need to do on a daily basis for their success within our organization.

If you're reading this review because you're wondering if this book might be worth the time, let me encourage you to get it - regardless if you're new to eBay or a seasoned Powerseller...this is the best eBay book I have every read.

In case you're wondering, I purchased a copy for every one of my employees, and I will be insisting that new hires start their careers with my firm by first reading this book and setting up their own personal ebay user ID based on the teachings of this book. That's how good it is.

I have been buying from eBay for years and I have really enjoyed. I've never had a bad experience. I always wondered what it would be like to 'sell' as well. This book was recommended to me by a fantastic marketer called Bill Glazer. I have a lot of respect for him. Anyway I bought the book as Bill advised and it's really great. It gives fantastic advice on how to get started fast. It really would drive you to ACTION. A few days after reading it I sold my first product.Adam lay's out everything very clearly.
I followed Adam's advice and started selling things lying around the house and up in the attic. My son Neil 'tied' down his two fairly large fish tanks incase I sold them as well.;-)
I've now progressed to selling three products and the tests are proving very positive. This book will really get you fired up and you will be very enthusiastic after reading it. After reading the I really believe it is possible to start a business on eBay and make serious money. Adam also gives you great help besides the book. He has a serious website with tons of information on it. You get a load of free information when you buy the book.

Go for it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Lots of information for the beginner., August 19, 2006
There is a lot of information to get you excited about starting to buy/sell on Ebay. A tiny bit too many "stories", but excellent source of the basics. Just be sure to flag pages as you go to reference and your start up will be much easier. Just attended Ebay 101 class ($95) and much of the stuff I had already learned from this book. Definitely worth the price of the book.

This book has good information for the learner eBay-er. But it has a serious shortcoming. It has no index! Much of the book seems to be written down as narrated by the author. This means it is very readable, but the information on each topic is scattered in several sections throughout the book. Finding a topic for the first time (or trying to recall where it was) is frustrating and time-cosuming. There are other eBay books (such as various "Dummies Guides" that I would recommend as better than this book. Additionally the production (paper, printing) is surprisingly mediocre.

5.0 out of 5 stars Definitely the best..., December 19, 2005
By
I've been trading on eBay for almost 3 years. This is by far, the best book about eBay that I have ever read. It's heads and shoulders above the rest for several reasons:

1. The format is conversational and is easy to read. I finished the entire book in less than 2 days.

2. Through the author's experience I learned insight and understanding about eBay basic and advanced selling techniques.

3. I learned selling philosphies that have already positively impacted my sales. This book has paid for itself many times over in just a few short weeks since implementing the strategies.

I highly recommend this book for anyone who wants to learn more about eBay and about business in general. The eBay tax savings strategies was a great bonus! Go out and get this book today!

I've been selling on eBay for sometime (4 1/2 years) and found this book to be refreshing. I believe that big league success comes from having a big league coach. And, I believe this book should be a pre-requisite for anyone wanting to sell on eBay!

5.0 out of 5 stars eBay the Easy Way - Adam is a genious!, April 3, 2006
Adam Ginsberg knows all the ins and outs of eBay. Even if you're not computer literate, Adam makes it so easy to understand everything from the basics, to the most advanced tips to becoming a powerseller and making thousands a month. Thanks to this book, we took our eBay sales from $2,500 a month, to $7,000 a month, and we're now an eBay Silver Powerseller! Better yet, we also generate over 150 new leads every single month. I recommend this book to anyone who's looking to make eBay their primary or additional business.
