From Library Journal
The complicated business of buying or selling a home has been intelligently outlined in this compact volume. The author walks us through both processes with helpful discussions of shopping for a mortgage, preparing a house for viewing, determining an asking price, and using a broker. In the chapter entitled "Getting a Mortgage," Makower explains without oversimplifying the wide range of mortgage instruments available. Definitions of real estate and financial terms are included as are check lists for various phases of the transaction. Other how-to books on this topic, like Edith Lank's Selling Your Home with an Agent (Reston c/o Prentice-Hall, 1982) and Sloan Bashinsky's Selling Your Home Sweet Home ( LJ 6/15/85), aren't as thorough or explicit. This book would benefit from an index, but is otherwise highly recommended for public libraries.
