Excellent "How To" advice,
By A Customer
This review is from: How to Settle With the IRS for Pennies on the Dollar (Paperback)
Using only the material contained in this book I negotiated (without the expense of lawyer, accountant or ex-IRS official) a fifteen cents on the dollar settlement of a past due account with the IRS. I found the advice clear and easy to follow. Bottom line: if you are having problems with the IRS this book is definitely worth buying and reading.

This is a good book, covering the topic of the IRS Offer in Compromise Program. The author also talks about other avenues for mitigating IRS debt. The information is useful and well put together. There's a little bit of shameless self-promotion in the book, which I guess can be expected. But the content is all there, and it's good. This is one of the few OIC books on the market that's affordable, too. I've seen some OIC books selling for upwards of $100, so if you are considering an OIC, read this book cover to cover before you even attempt it. The IRS doesn't like to compromise--they hate doing anybody any favors. So you might as well be as informed as you can.

Most people who owe the IRS a bunch of money can't afford one of those shady attorneys who claim they can help negotiate a deal for you. I read this book and googled examples of others who had a similar situation, who settled with the IRS for less. My offer in compromise was excepted and I ended up paying $4800 instead of $29,000.The IRS was actually helpful once they believed my story..Before you pay someone, buy this book, it worked for me.
